What really is concerning is that "hard work" was pulled out of nowhere. The kid spent most of his time lazing around at some point in his life. And when you're at full stop, you can't just go back at full speed right away simply because you used to go at full speed before. You need to work for it again from 0.

This feels more like an excuse to say that it's not talent that won, but hard work. Which is dumb when you think about it. Because the message turns into half-assed effort beats a lifetime of grueling effort.

Come on, it "was not pulled out of nowhere" and saying something is, does not make it so lol. Ishun reaches five times the "full speed" with one tenth of the effort that others have to make, and that is clear from the very beginning. Only now he realized he can't just rest on his victories and talent and it can only get him so far, he is not an actual god after all. He is putting work he never had to put in a fight before right now.

And I hate to say it, but sometimes talent + a bit of work beats lots of work, and if you think that's a bad message, well....
