Why the hell did he accept the duel? Like bro, what? If you ain't going kill them, at least throw them away from the castle.

“Mr. MC I’m like totally in need of help. I need you to risk everything and start a war to save me? Is that cool with you?”

“Oh yeah totally. Its not like I’m a complete stranger to this world and know nothing about... well anything. Its also not like I have a responsibility to my opness and broken powers to learn more about the world through multiple sources so I’m sure I’m not lied to or given biased information. That story sounded sad so I’ll just do whatever you want without any fact checking or awareness whatsoever”

Even if this works out (which I doubt it will), the fact this is the MC’s response at all is pathetic. I’d love if isekai MC’s learned how to think for themselves. Why do they always seem to have the capacity and awareness of american millennials (or pretty much any generation in the U.S. right now that carries around a cellphone, but refuses to fact check or double check news/information to save their lives).

Edit: read through the comments and maybe it’s the manga’s pacing (idk). Doesn’t make this not bad writing and continuation of a terrible trope though, it just means the adaptation has significantly worse writing than the source material (so same old).

@Anythingcando I mean, the MC is a teenager from the (our) contemporary world. Arguably he should have shaken off his naivety a LONG time ago.even if the MC himself has lived a sheltered life (if he hasn’t lived a sheltered life he shouldn’t be naive at all), between the news, fiction, internet, school, his parents, other adults, and about everything else that goes into our development from a young age, he should have the ability to make good decisions and discern the truth (and not be naive) on his own. Realistically, our modern world is wrought with 100x more deceit, maliciousness, lies, treachery, and danger (less “get eaten by a dragon” and more “get your identity stolen and life ruined”) than any fantasy world I’ve seen. I mean we live in a world where we are constantly subjected to numerous amounts of information from a wide variety of sources at all times. The last thing any above the age of 5 can afford to be is naive (and you should really have been taught to think for yourself and trust carefully by the time you’re in highschool (especially when you need to start writing papers and judging sources)). It’s not like he just came from a rock or some weird utopian society. Isekai’d mc’s really don’t need to get betrayed and spend X amount of time in a survival series to stop being naive. Just growing up in a world where “catfishing” is a thing we need to warn people about should solve that issue.

I’m not really saying anything about this plot specifically, but just that it doesn’t and has NEVER made sense for how naive these characters are despite the fact they come from a world where falsifying information (and spreading false information) is at least 100x easier than any of these fantasy settings. Not to mention the numerous fiction works that at one point or another depict betrayal or deceit (because that’s easy drama and conflict, the latter of which is necessary and the former just sells great).

@IHaveTurnedFujo I read through @dextersTomato I can’t express how disappointed I am it’s not at least 1

This flying castle is utterly wasted on this doormat, gullible idiot protagonist.

He (elf guy) has shown zero proofs to backup his story. Could be a total trap to lure in this idiot MC. Also, he had NO REASON, to accept that duel. I'm starting to think this protagonist has suffered from a brain damage.

Also, isn't the whole point of that slave seal that they can't betray their master..? By the looks of that bitch's smile, the elf guys story might've been total BS.

Yeah, great idea to take in enemy spies to our base, who are on constant war w/ other nations, and who are basically experienced murderers. Also a great idea to believe their story, and lower your guard at that moment.

I bet this doormat MC will give them a full tour of the castle on the next chapter, and show all the secrets to the enemy spies.
