I have half a feeling that he will eventually see the lab as equivalent to a black company and that will activate his curse and cause him to go mad against the lab - so it wasn't the curse that decided there are no black companies in the world, it was the MC's own judgement of the world around him.

They call it a poison, but it's really thousands of souls cursing those that killed them indiscriminately given physical form. Tthe John Carpenter movie "The Fog" is pretty close to how this plays out.

Not everyone has the goal of ending humanity, like Credo definitely does, most of them just like making people suffer, and some of them just want to advance technology.

He’s not. He’s trying to maximize the effectiveness of his attacks. If he wiped out the lab as soon as he got there it would have been game over since there were WAY more labs and they would have set off that bomb.
