Interesting take on the usual "MC has advanced knowledge" trope; instead of portraying the natives as idiots, it actually went the logical route and invented a different method to arrive at the same answer.

Though, it does make me wonder if that other method actually works.

Let me preface this by saying this isn't a spoiler. I have never read the LN, WN, or ahead in the manga. With that being said...

Everyone's mad at top-score-kun until her tits pop out of her uniform on accident. The artist has drawn feminine chest and hips on "her" several times now.

I mean it's pretty much one of the ways to prove the Pythagorean Theorem, no? It's just that they fill in the variables and calculate, rather than directly going to the solution: (a+b)(a+b)-4*(a*b/2)=aa+bb+ab+ab-2ab=aa+bb, so cc=aa+bb.

It's funny because I thought the same thing, "I need to try that." Turns out, it's just the basic "proof of Pythagorean theorem" which, amusingly enough, is just Pythagorean theorem. Heres a link to youtube showing how it breaks down. www.youtube.com/watch?v=VjI4LtotC2o

But yeah, just breaks down to exactly what Yuuji said. Which means the professors of this world already created Pythagorean theorem and thus should NOT have been impressed with Yuuji's simplification.

I think there's merit in the simplification.

They don't know about the square root operator, not the theory itself.
Based off the explanation, they must have though. They made the outer square, subtract the 4 triangles to get the area of the inner square, and got the side based off the area of the inner square. They are quite literally, finding the root of a square from the area.
