As a noble the mc could always do sword training regularly, because noble has more free time than filthy peasant. Looking at what he is doing it is like he doesn't know how to rest, because bodybuilders only do short intensive workouts and rest. Training without rest isn't really helping because what he lack is real warfare experience. And with 12 years old body? That's just destroying his own body. As @Kynnath said, going to campaign as observer is what he needed and his father missed it.

@Tatsuya-Kai
Breaking midset
The sure way is go to campaign as observer, because looking at battlefield where people killing each other are more useful than training when no one died.

Good commander is needed to win, but I have some problem with your example.
Battle of thermopylae
The film 300 isn't true, maybe there are really 300 Spartans but they're not alone. Several Greeks city states allies join the battle as well, and they're lose.
Alexander the great
He just had spectacular luck. Fun fact, he joined his father campaign against the other Greeks city states.
Battle of okehazama
Nobunaga just blindly charge to enemy encampment with "bravery". With luck he found the enemy scattered and charging right into the commander unit.
In Nobunaga case just less spectacular luck (because he is killed before unite japan). Imagawa is a great politician, maybe not too good commander?

if i was to guess ars is probably a average to above average warrior but a amazing leader and commander
Isn't his skill commander type?

Uh-oh. This is also a death flag. When a sickly or old person suddenly gathers all family members...

Imo, sounds like he's going to tell them to protect his son and make them assure him that Ars will be looked after. Then Ars will get to his father and exchange some final words.

Where is this manga's direction?? The demographic is "shounen" but I'm pretty sure the plotline is more suitable to be "shoujo", gotta correct the tag since the author is somewhat wissy-wassy with the how to tell the story.. so the stories background is good, but the proceeding of the story is somewhat unbearable (I completely agree with the scanlators)..

He has an appraisal skill, why the hell is he so concerned with getting physically strong. As a strategist, the fact that you can literally pick out the enemies weak points is an amazing boon to have. Any military commander would love to have that. You don't have to be on the front lines. That's literally why you've been picking up strong frontline warriors.

@degenerateafro it's cuz he never told anyone about the skill and he's going to be a commander so he need to be strong or what's the point of a commander that can't even fight as he's going to be the new head since he isn't the stratagist as that other kid is way better, or the knights since he hand picked them, so he cannot go for those roles. His only choice is comander of the army and for that he need experience with death, killing and fight as all is fair in war otherwise he would die like crunching paper.
