Information about Cain's abilities is mostly restricted due to him A. being a minor and B. being an apostle. All they know about him from the republic side is that hes strong enough to beat a few C ranks. To be fair to the bad guys here bringing 500 or so people would normally beat an S rank. Remember we have seen an S rank before, and Cain one shot him. Cain is just so much more than an S rank.

I am truly unsure what Corgino is thinking. Corgino should know that he killed an Orc General and an S ranked dragon when he was 10. Cain has also brought his territory under control from the Guild at the age of 12 and was also instrumental in foiling his plot to kidnap Parm. So, to send just 300 men to attack and kill Cain with the intention of making the princess and her friend's slaves should never have crossed his mind unless he knew how to stop Cain.

Very little of what Cain’s done is actually public knowledge. It’s mostly a secret that only the king knows about. Yeah he’s fought some monsters at a young age and risen to S rank but even some of the body guards didn’t think he’d be enough to stop all the soldiers in front of him.

You see, the trick to writing a good story is to have your characters confront situations that highlight their flaws so you can explore how they overcome them - or not - and how that changes the relationships between them and the rest of the cast.

This is not one of those.

closest we came to that was Cain struggling to plan a party right after getting his noble title. He took too much on himself, passed out, and then scared all his guests with his giant dragon. Plus he didn’t invite the king. He learned there in a way that showed off his lack of knowledge

He can also just bring back their heads as evidence, no need to keep them alive.

That says nothing other than Cain killed some nobles while on a diplomatic field trip. Imagine a us politician killing a British politician while in Britain. That’d be an incident especially if his only evidence is a bunch of witnesses from America

I think the reason he chooses not to kill everyone to "avoid a war" is because if they are all dead there is no one to interrogate and confirm that they attacked him. In that case, the kingdom could just say he slaughtered them all in retaliation for his mistreatment in their kingdom.
