The first 24 pages of this chapter were kind of a waste of time right? Close ups of the two girls doing combat poses with no wide angle panels, which made the fight impossible to follow.
I know that this isn't a battle manga, but if you're going to have a 20 page fight scene in your 35 page chapter you should at least make it interesting or have it enrich the plot.

It feels like the artist in charge of this adaptation is losing interest and phoning it in.

Well, I think it's more about how they made the whole fight looks boring, even looking at a wild pokemon encounter fight seems more thrilling than this. Both the way the fight panned out as a story and on the artwork department is lacking, it's just a back and forth of
'protag use tackle!' *it's not effective
'enemy use magic!' *it's effective
'protag use holly magic!' *it's effective
'enemy use summon!' *it's not effective
and the author didn't draw a single effective panel on the fight sequence, it's just random posing and suddenly it jumped into the aftermath without showing the actual clash. The way they explains every single action by talking to their enemy also made it looks so bad, without the explanations the whole chapter is incomprehensible. The artist could've used bigger panels to show the scene instead of close ups which made them couldn't appear on the same panel, also they could've get rid of the commentaries if the artist shown the actual actions so the readers can understand it just by looking at the illustrations.

I didn't care about those waifu shit, why would someone got so obsessed over a fictional characters always made me wondering anyway <_<
