For this manga in particular it's always best to just skip the first page of comments, it's without fail full of people whining that the characters aren't just doing things that have already been directly stated to not work and lead to even worse outcomes

There's more after your comment still low key whining about it. There will just always be some. It doesn't make much sense for me to address any of the comments tbh.

Because if the next chapter isn't more vanilla Yuri or royals laying down the absolute power people think they possess (and wish they themselves had, by the sounds of it), then there will be some morons doing it all over again.

But it helps set my mind in order to call them out anyway. Ignoring it and not articulating out what I think about such views often leads to quiet long term acceptance and atrophy of ability to scrutinize. Thinking about it internally isn't enough. At least for me.

In the novels, there's a particular event that solves this issue:
After Euphie becomes a Spirit Contractor and basically becomes immortal. The issue of her outliving Anis worries her. But this is solved through a very difficult battle against a powerful vampire. In that battle Anis is bitten and is turning into a vampire, Euphie is desperately trying to save Anis from being turned. This forces them to rely on the dragon mark and creating a dragon magicite inside Anis. They succeed in this. The magicite in question has both Dragon and Vampire traits, what they are are a bit unknown. One of the effects is that now Anis has a dragon's long life. Which solves the issue.

However the next issue they need to deal with is that since both Euphie and Anis have basically stopped being human. Their interactions with humans have now gotten complicated. The changes to them have nearly caused them to act out. In Euphie's case, one idiot had insulted Anis in front of her and Euphie almost killed him in response. Anis at one point thought about destroying people outright, just like how a dragon would think. The two are being influenced by their nonhuman status and is an ongoing issue as of the current western release of the light novels.

Novel is still ongoing. Volumes 9, 10, and 11 are basically the two dealing with another country, an empire.

About Anis and Euphie
The premise of their nonhuman status has bigger implications.
Euphie being a Spirit Contractor, she's basically revered by those of the spiritualist faction. She's basically a god queen for them now. And a good number of them want her to rule forever. However due to an idiot insulting Anis in front of her, she nearly kills him in response. Anis is her only anchor that keeps her human. Because as a Spirit Contractor she has no need to eat or sleep in general. And Euphie begins to think nothing of humans outside of the ones she is close with.

Anis is in a similar position, she's still disliked by a number of the nobles. Some believe they can defeat her since she's still can't use magic. However due to her new status a kind of dragon vampire hybrid, we're still not sure how much of the vampire part is there, Anis's mindset now has been affected into thinking like a dragon. She had thought at one point to just basically destroy all her detractors with force. And due to her new powers she can probably do it. However she keeps herself in check, but if something happened to Euphie, she wouldn't mind doing it.

This causes both of them to think they need to complete the changes to the kingdom and then leave the ruling of the kingdom to their successor who should be human. Since the two of them are now no longer human, they come to the conclusion that if they stay too long with the kingdom, it'll either be too reliant on them or get twisted in some fashion. So once the kingdom is changed and in good hands, they plan to leave. But the process is still going to take time.

Would her longevity not be the true agelessness of a vampire with the need for blood supplemented by her draconic mana regeneration and cap or something along those lines? Cuz while I haven't read the source material it says on the wiki that it was mentioned by Tilty that Anis hadn't aged at all in the one year time skip between volumes. (Also because making Anis just extremely long lived rather than genuinely unaging would be kinda pointless in the long run as Euphie would still end up alone and still eventually forget about Anis if she just had a very long lifespan.)

From what I can remember.
Both Anis and Euphie need to take in mana regularly. One of the relationship issues popped up as both can take mana from each other. Prior to Anis gaining her dragon vampire magicite. Euphie used to feed off of Anis during their intimate moments. However once Anis started doing the same thing. The two had to figure out some kind of mana rich diet. Anis is taking that drug she used before as a way to fill that need for herself.

The magicite in Anis’s body is mainly dragon with some vampire traits. But they haven’t really figured out what Anis got exactly from it. In all likelihood, she probably did get a vampire’s immortality/agelessness. At the time when she was told she got a magicite in her, she was more enthusiastic about what tests she could perform with it. After that was the one year time skip cause Euphie was fairly traumatized when she almost lost Anis during the vampire battle. And she pretty much forced Anis to not do anything over that year.

And the novel kinda does not mention much else about this subject. Focusing more on the issue of now both of them are no longer human and how people view them. Probably cause the author wanted to focus on more immediate issues like how people view the two of them or the future Empire stuff starting from Vol 9.
