Well, sick in the head people are sometimes given too much power. This corrupts them into beings that are closer than monsters than anything else. It's even worse, because they wear human skin. I won't name anyone, but look at any dictators, current and past. =/ Or anyone at the head of a big organization.

That bishop is hilariously hypocritical. He's obviously pretty high in the hierarchy of an evil religion worshipping some chaotic demonic god, yet he's here giving lectures to the "hero", who is pretty much the textbook example of a follower of that religion by being utterly evil. Sure, the bishop wants things to go his way, but when he's a member of an evil organisation, how can he really expect it? Everyone will be doing whatever they find will benefit themselves the most, as long as there's no imminent danger of getting found out and killed. That's how it must work in such an organisation. Nobody would join an evil church without being evil, after all. If you are evil, you aren't trustworthy.
