This is what he gets for taking too long, procrastinating, and navel-gazing. Having someone else who is more decisive take the initiative and dump dirty work on his plate. So when are they going to actually come clean? because it's pretty clear that she knows that they are a different dragon.
Spoilers for this arc from memory:So when are they going to actually come clean? because it's pretty clear that she knows that they are a different dragon.
Now this one I'm not certain but the manticore might have chased off another dragon god, or it was a WN only thing, or I remember something else.
I haven't read the novel, but this made it seem like she indeed knows, but the tribe absolutely needs the protection of the dragon god. Since Irushia saved the dude and seems mellow, the priestess must have judged this dragon is not evil. So, she will lose nothing by trying to rope Irushia in. After all, there's a chance Irushia will just move on, so she had to try to convince him to become the new local dragon god right now. There might not be a second chance.I understand it's for comedy but the priestess wasn't as direct in the novel, she just made some sus faces and Irushia assumed the rest. She always spoke to Irsuhia in formalities.
It's kinda understandable not to try and test a 2 headed dragon god, so that scene felt weird with her pushing Irushia.
She might have also sensed Irushia's indecisiveness, and thought that if she just kept pushing, she could steamroll right over him. It IS interesting that she could probably read Partner's thoughts as well, but still directed her thoughts and words towards Irushia; maybe she could tell that Irushia is the smarter head, but also the one more stuck with indecision, while Partner can be decisive, but only when she can be bothered to be, and right now, she's letting Irushia handle things.I haven't read the novel, but this made it seem like she indeed knows, but the tribe absolutely needs the protection of the dragon god. I believe this spoiler is one of the things that is better to not be known. Don't read it, people. Because I'm regret reading itSpoilers for this arc from memory:
Yep, she knows. The old dragon godwas not as powerful or smart as Irushia and was happy eating the gross avyssos spiders so it was an mutually beneficial arrangement. But it was somewhat migratory and did leave for long periods to find more food. The dragon god went after an avyssos nest with some lithovar and no one returned so the priests figured out what happened but kept up the usual routine and told the village the dragon god moved on as usual.amphisbaena
Now this one I'm not certain but the manticore might have chased off another dragon god, or it was a WN only thing, or I remember something else. Nevertheless, there has been at least one migratory dragon god and the dragon priests are keeping up the facade and the manticore has been taking advantage of being the strongest around.
With Irushia being the new dragon god the priests don't really have an issue with it. They can keep the lie up and pretend everything is as it has always been. It works for everyone.
Since Irushia kills the manticore there is no reason to come clean to the priests or the village. However, Hibi (the dragon priest in this chapter) is killed and there is an outsider invasion imminent, there is a need for another dragon priest. Unfortunately the village has no other dragon priests capable of telepathy.
Nearby there is another lithovar village. However, this is an anti-dragon god village who were disappointed in the priests (and dragon god to a degree) for letting the manticore rule and offer sacrifices and left feeling bitter. Luckily Irushia killed the manticore in that village so negotiation is possible.
The new dragon priest was not told the secret of the dragon god before she left so Irushia tells her the truth, and she tells the anti-dragon god village plus the escort Irushia had from the original village. Everyone agrees to not tell the original village.
