The problem with any story universe where an screen pops up to show you how much EXP you gained from killing something, will 100% of the time tell you whether the enemy is truly dead or not. It's the only thing I look for after a fight is "over." Unless you see that screen pop up, the enemy isn't dead. Author's will try and distract you, but I haven't forgotten about it.
The village elder wants to hear Marielle's story. But that never happens. The super late adventurers get to hear about what happened in the village. But Marielle was frustratingly cockblocked from telling everyone her story about her interactions with the dragon. And when she tried to speak up, the village elder sends her out of the room to change her shirt.
I get that the half-elf is trying to protect Marielle by sending her away from the dragon. But, shouldn't she hear her story first? Did she loose all interest in finding out more information about the dragon? Such bizarre behavior. I'm hopping that she asks her in the next chapter. If she doesn't, then maybe she already heard Marielle's story, but we completely miss out on seeing her reaction due to being an overly compressed light novel adaptation that cuts out important story elements. Frustrating.
