I'm pretty sure that most of them were dosed with [Evil food] during the food competition thing, which made them susceptible to the [Evil Transformation Magic]. Fran's curry contained some kind of blessed ingredient which countered the [Evil Food], meaning the [Evil Man] pandemic is no where near as bad as it could have been.

[Evil TLDR]: Bad food made people bad.

As someone who enjoys food, this is very true.

Glad Fran didn't boast about why the golems were so easy. Always best to leave the enemy in the dark and a frustrated enemy is more likely to slip up. The cute and deadly cat knows her psychological warfare.

Don't forget part of it is from the food/drink they served at that restaurant. There's a little evil in most people, and that was all it needed to draw that out. But yeah, waaaaaay too many people willingly joined this evil cult.

Certainly, but under normal circumstances there's more decency than evil in people. This evil influence turned them into murderous demons, immediately. Thus I say something about the local customs and culture in that city made people more prone to it. Like there was zero trust in the city administration, thus every aspect of public life required corruption to keep going. Maybe the public order was also so lacking that people were living in constant fear of violence and thus got used to violence as a normal tool to solve problems. That kind of things, which would make people more susceptible to getting turned into demonic beings.
