I've said it before and I'll say it again. Consistency is more important than accuracy. Whether it be names or speaking styles, if you're not willing to go back and redo every previous chapter than just continue with the way it was before. Changing the way the main character speaks after 50 chapters just makes you seem like a shitty translator. This case is particularly disappointing as the previous 50 chapters were better quality and translation than the official english, then you just throw all that in the trash.

I'd genuinely love to know if there's canon basis for Fran speaking in broken English.

But even if there was it'd still be shitty because c’mon. She's 12 and her parents were raised at the same place as most of the characters we met.
