@phil777 It's not balanced at all, with the skill level 1, you could get 1 skill every 4 days easy, and now only once every 18 days, his seems like a downgrade to me. Well, not so much a downgrade, because it is better to be able to target precisely and certainly the skill you want, but it seems a bit to big since you're supposed to have upgraded the skill 9 times.

Still, I'm surprised that they didn't make more of a ruckus than that, it was a greater Demon and she soloed it, yet they don't seem to take it much into consideration.

@Ghizghuth Yes, but you'd have 50% chance to get a skill every day. That means you could go for 4 days in a row without gaining 1 skill. =/ Considering this is a unique skill, I'd say it's a nice trump card to pull out.

@phil777 Nah you're right, the idea that the skill is better unevolved would only apply if you often found enemies with varied skills, or if adding a "Skill A level 1" to "Skill A level 1" made it level 2, but it's actually more rare than anything to find someone with a good skill, and risking failing and never again have the opportunity to steal it is indeed not as good as being patient but being able to steal whatever skill you want.

@Ghizghuth Yeah, this isn't the kinda universe where whatever you're trying to steal from will let you escape (unless it's a human like that useless noble) and allow you to attempt to steal the skill again should you fail just so you can steal it once it's off cooldown... =/

Well, the first level would have been better than the fully evolved one if there wasn't the restriction that you can only use the skill once on every person. But with this restriction, which also prevents the skill from being totally world breaker, fully levelling it seems to be better indeed.

The manga explanation of Skill Taker explains it pretty poorly.

Here's how it works, properly laid out:
Skill Taker level 1:
50% chance to steal a level 1 or lower skill. 1 day cooldown.

Skill Taker level 10:
100% chance to steal a level 10 or lower skill. 18 day cooldown.

He's happy because the strength of the skill that can be stolen goes up with each level, as well as the probability of stealing it. A level 6 Skill Taker will fail every time against level 7 Sword Arts, for example.

One other small thing I thought it was going to mention in the next chapter but doesn't btw, so I'll say it here;
Skill Taker can be shared but stolen skills cannot be shared. If Master steals a skill then Fran cannot also use it, if Fran steals a skill then master cannot also use it. Basically when stealing skills it has to be considered who will be the one needing and using it.

There is one final thing to mention about using it, but theoretically that should come up the second time they come to use the skill without me saying anything, I'm guessing that might happen around chapter 30.

Ew, the skill's cooldown is longer after leveling it up. I hate when games make upgrading abilities give negative effects.

Yeah the CD UP is annoying but it's fair, besides 100% is better than 50% so we just have to live with it

Its not a downgrade to him cause all that matters is that the skill can be used without fail. He's thinking of protecting Fran, not metagaming with hit and runs.
