Both this chapter/movie and the 3 recent OVA episodes are being used to introduce the last three Primordial Demons (the Rainbow) before Season 3 starts in 2024.

It's more of a side-story than a spinoff, as the events that take place will continue into the anime.

They disbanded when K-Manga was launched and Tensura got an official English Simulpub.

Is it really ideal to put this as the 0th chapter? Newcomers will probably read this first without any prior knowledge and would be very confused about the story changing from him to Rimuru. Might be better to find a suitable place to put this as an extra chapter. Though some might avoid it, if they're binge reading this then they'll have to read it anyways.
