That is an interesting question though :eek: How old can slimes get? I figure it's infinite just as long as they consume regularly right? Or not get killed

@Chrisis
How about a jelly fish that lives forever? That's a thing
@Garrett
No way in hell would the writer make it three years... That wouldn't make much sense... Not to mention if that were the case then all he'd have to do is go out and find a skill that would make him live longer... right?

Another chapter reminding us this manga is a step above most other iseakai.

I think it depends on what kind of organism is a slime.
Since they are weak and ubiquitous, one could assume that their reproduction rate is really high, and that is usually a countermeasure to a high mortality rate/brief lifespan.
They could also be like jellyfish, but most of them don't like forever; o year or so is the average.
Lastly, they could be like unicellular organisms, and "live forever" reporduciong by binary fission.
(This obviously disregarding all magic and stuff)

Of course, the author chose the immortal route.
But still I find it weird the NC assumes a "shitty slime" can live forever without trying to verify it first.

It's also not like he's suddenly going to die :eek: Lets say your memory gets wiped and you live in solitude... You wouldn't be able to guess your own lifespan :eek: And it'd not like people go out of their way to research monsters in fantasy stories (At least not a lot of them and the few that have don't have extensive knowledge on it(Or at least wouldn't/shouldn't))

Nooo!! ... When Rimuru is out of Tempest is when "that" happens... I want to see a more powerful Rimuru but I don't want to see what happens to trigger it.

Damn this is good.
This is how an Isekai Manga should be.
Great art, nice combat, OP MC that still has to deal with a lot of issues, good feels, great world, nice explorations, interesting characters...
I get so exited every time I see this manga in my Follows ?

Concerning the life span of a slime... Rimuru isn't really a simple slime, right? He actually has a Great Dragon residing inside of him, and that dragon was already thousands of years old.
He should be close to immortal, that's probably why some Demon Lords already pretty much consider him as an equal.

I don't read the novel, and don't want any spoils, but this chapter seems to raise a ton of bad flags. I feel like something is going to happen to some of his close friends, and damn it's already making me apprehensive.

A nice chapter as usual. It was unexpected to see Rimura contemplate on his lifespan and how he'll approach the death of his loved ones as time goes on. He's likely downright immortal or at the least won't die for thousands of years, so casually everyone he knows will eventually pass away besides Lilith. Since she was brought up though, she'll more than likely return and this plot point will be diverged into more.

It'd be nice if we went into depth on how Rimura deals with loss and how it'll effect his ability to lead a kingdom though, since he's already thinking of the day Tempest won't need his leadership. Not to mention how he'd respond to living for hundreds of years on end and having to watch everyone fade away. I hope the author doesn't cop out on this and introduce some immortality or life sharing ability..

That's exploring some really greats ideas, this chapter was particularly great. I'm also glad Rimuru can start going off on an adventure by himself it's exciting.

Good god, that food just screams “do not eat”... not figuratively either, like it will actually be screaming at you...

I know this is off topic but.. Where can I find Veldora's perspective on each arc? I've read it during the end of volume one or something and its really good. But now i can't find it anymore. Any ideas?

If we talked about slime's life expectancy it shouldn't be very long if we consider them as the weakest mobs, they could die even if someone just stepped on them. But if there's no predator, they might be able to live a longer live as slime doesn't need food or water to live.

Rimuru though is a special case, he was named by Veldora, through naming Rimuru get a lot of magical power and a longer life. The proof can be seen from Rigurudo and Hakurou, as they look younger after being named. Then again, the life expectancy in this isekai is pretty long. Veldora and Milim practically have live since forever, Karion 400+ years old, Hakurou and King Gazelle more than 200/300 years old, except for Shizu (few decades? 100+ years because of Ifrit) the humans life expectancy probably the same as us. Thus, we come to conclusion that the higher magical power you have you might live longer. So, as long as Rimuru doesn't stupidly pick a fight with catastrophe level demon lord he should be able to live a few decades.

Those are manga only I think. Not seen them anywhere else. Ditto for the chapter omake's.

To answer about the lifespan question...It's pretty much indefinite. As a slime he's the weakest of mobs and I dunno about their reproduction cycles or abundance, but they generally live forever and only die due to virtue of being the weakest enemies.
