Because his actions will Just cause more trouble to him and his village/town/land.

Besides when you think about it, this story started with him giving his life to save another and now he's mercilessly killing hundreds of people to achieve his goal. - It's kinda sad to see.

@Taikutsu18 they covered that in previous chapter where rimuru reflected on his naivety in restricting his subordinates from killing humans, due to rimuru previously being human.
His only justification for not killing humans was that he was a human. Which he realized was wrong. He then weighed the lives of his fallen comrades to those of the attacking forces and decided appropriately.
You fail to realize that its a war and an unprovoked one at that.

Becoming a demon lord was the best choice.... Give the demon a body however... probably not a good idea.

To be honest if that king/church never attack them a peaceful relationship between the king's country will have been done but nooo they just need to become stupid and kill some of rimaru's people and now this is happening tbh rimaru never even wanted to become a demon lord he was force to become one just because of the story that the witch say about milim.plus he said many times to milim that he dont want to become a demon lord because he know the problems that a demon lord will bring into the land to begin with.
