Even more than Kaeha, Nonna we first met as a child. Her passing off screen and having a great daughter tugs at the heart strings to say the least. How many chapters has it even been since we first met her? I don't know if it's intentional or not, but the chapters do a really good job conveying the passage of time like the MC would experience it: it feels fleeting. Like as a comparison in Doctor Who, the world and its characters age fairly on track with the real world. Fan favorite characters like the brigadier are a constant and they only as their actors age in real life and they keep returning up until they no longer (like as in are physically unable to), so despite the immortality of the main character and obviously due to the time machine, it only actually feels like 60 years have passed (the length of the show) in 60 years. Here each chapter feels like a lifetime (someone's lifetime) and precious moments you'll never get back. And when we return to locations it feels like so much time has passed and so much changes. Also probably because we're in a more fictional landscape and one set in a changing time for civilizations.
