All jokes aside, I'm genuinely stumped. With this manga being how it is, I'm not even entirely certain we'll get the answer and get closure on it, or if it will forever remain a philosophical mystery.

True, I think this author leans more into passage of time/what immortality means relative to others compared to say, Freiren. Although Freiren is the one getting all the awards and recognition...

It feels like forever ago, when we first started comparing this and Freiren. At the time I thought they were different takes on the same theme, but in the years since Freiren has become a more standard fantasy story while this one continues to explore the painful otherness of being someone who will outlive all of your companions.
