I feel like this is a waste of a chapter, aside from the notes. She wasn't too much of a sister if she was willing to sell her off for her own benefit.

This didn't make me like her a bit more. In fact this is a very strange chapter because it clashes with her decision. If Hannah had actually survived and lived with Leila, Alistair, and the rest of the hunters, it would have been highly annoying, especially when Leila mysteriously doesn't blame her for anything. No doubt she would have later tried to finish the slave deal, still foolishly believing the slavers ever intended to pay her a single penny. Honestly, it's a good thing she died like she did. It was probably quick enough.

I still find it incredible so many people had so little sympathy for someone in a vulnerable position
Nah. Hannah was an idiot.
It seemed like the only problem was money. She rather kidnap a baby she supposedly loves than ask for help from one of the most powerful and wealthy families in the kingdom?
Even though she was forced to go with them once she got to the carriage, she took the baby and walked out of the mansion.
Her family wasn't being threatened, they didn't ransom their health with something like "he have the only known cure." They only offered money to buy "expensive" medicine.
I feel bad that she has to suffer for terrible plot development, but in-universe with what we know now, she could have done so much to avoid this.

Edit: ngl, after my anger high, I'm staring to feel pretty bad for dumb Hannah. She was really, really dumb, but people shouldn't die because they're so, so dumb.

Edited out post, not because it was rude, controversial or something I couldn't stand behind, but because it was cringe and nobody deserves the horrible fate of reading my drunk posts.

Hannah was a victim, and I will stand by this.

Don't worry, a lot of people stand by a lot stupid and horrible beliefs. You standing by an evil person who abducts babies to sell to slavers for selfish reasons is completely normal. Repulsive as fuck, but normal.

People lack knowledge when it comes to human behavior. Tons of people that can be manipulated is actually alot than you think. We may be the most intelligent creature on this planet but we are also complex creatures bound to desires and emotions.

Religion is one primary example. Politics is another but a much complex system unlike religion.

under normal circumstances, what Hannah did is illogical. However, there are factors that we lack information on, like their world and common sense. A talking baby being able to understand you is already illogical itself. Under that pretense, a common maid cannot ask help from a noble and moreso, a baby. It's a world with hierarchy, and commoners in fictional settings usually act this way because they know their place (or simply puts a barrier between the poor and the rich).

I do live in a place where poverty and the rich can coexist but it's not like those that I have read. If anything, it is worse. The poor parents use kids to beg on the streets or even sell them to foreigners not to feed themselves but to gamble, do drugs, or drown on their desires. The rich takes advantage by making the poor do dirty jobs or even use them for content (vloggers). It is the point of no return so not even the government can do anything, except capture such people but there will be another unfair treatment behind that. Which is another story so this will just keep going on and on if I continue.

TL;DR
In my POV, Hannah's behavior is actually another normal behavior to me that can happen irl. Stupid, illogical, despicable, or whatever. It can happen. It isn't wrong to hate her for it. It isn't wrong to pity her for it and blame the ones behind it either. Because I have seen people react the same way irl.
