@HDMI1 Angels can be pretty scary. The only real difference between other bird people and angels is the divinity aspect. These are angels because they were summoned from a divine plain of some sort rather than harpies or furies which would simply be beasts or demi-humans.

Yeah, those are totally more Harpy-like than angels.

Of course, even traditional angels aren't actually angels as the Abrahamic faith describes them. Actual angels are horrific eldritch creatures with thousands of eyes spanning their entire bodies, or four faces, or geometric shapes that don't really make sense.

Hence the reason why basically every Biblical angel starts their message with "Don't be afraid."

Every monotheistic religion has it to some extent, the polytheistic ones not so much almost as if believing in multiple gods help you accept that your gods are not absolute and other equal gods could exist as well.

How the Hell did their country last long enough to even have the threat of this attack by Angels if their entire military force is only 200 men?? Also, how small is this country if that's as big a force they can muster? Why would the other country even need to summon such a large group of monsters to attack? So many questions raised from just a couple of sentences.

Didn't the MC's parents teach him how to read a map and plan a route!? Granted they taught him in a way not to get arrogant or stop training, but seems like completely forgot to teach him any common sense at all. Also, did they even teach him how to hold back or concentrate his attacks to avoid collateral damage or injuring nearby allies? Would be bad if while using magic on a wolf near a city for the blast to take out the city as well. Seems kind of off to call those summoned monsters angels based on a human like appearance and feathered wings considering they seem to fight and act more like rapid beasts than sentient people. Personally hope that what were summoned were demonic or bestial creatures that were enchanted to look like angels by corrupt officials to make it look like god is on their side when reality is complete opposite and they're definitely going to hell.

@GeistBuster The angels are a recent summons, and 200 men might be the only ones that could be spared to try to take out approaching enemies away from towns, villages and cities. Since the angels are coming alone could be the corrupt Holy Empire have a small army as well whose job is to protect the summoners and using summons as main attack force as it's not much of a loss if lose any of them and will always obediently follow orders no matter how inhumane while a human might argue or refuse.
