I think some people are forgetting that Tongtong's mom was confirmed extremely straight back chapter 19. She couldn't imagine finding girlyness attractive, and her attempts to dress Tongtong up was to turn her into the butch/prince type that tends to get straight fangirls.

I'm not opposed to mom yuri, I just think it's very unlikely in this particular case.

Is she even still with the dad? Or have they split now that their daughter is in college? Just wondering if this ship can hold water...
I definitely don't recall the father being anywhere in the story in any active role, considering he was a drunkard and she had to fight him the first time just for educational funds,I'd say they must've broken apart at some point.

And now she's getting the exact same treatment her daughter is getting.

Xian Jun,blessed the powers be!,bring forth lonely single mother falling for cheerful single mother!!

Let these two become just as happy!

I feel weird thinking that Luxi's mom is not being unreasonable while everyone else seems to feel otherwise. It doesn't justify how overbearing she is as how a parent should not be, but I do find it understandable how the generational trauma stemmed from poverty and rigid tradition would do her in to the point that she would make bad decisions. Maybe it's the Asian in me. I don't think she's a bad character at all and I do hope the author redeems her happily.

Thanks for the translations!

I don’t believe so, reread chapter 29 everything seems to be in line with the backstory. Though for some reason I have a vague recollection of her mom being a business woman but I think I’m just misremembering things.

Idk how much this chapter resonates with Westerners, but there are probably hundreds of thousands of mothers from my parents' generation with a similar backstory to hers because of how China was back then.
They have toiled their blood and sweat just to give the next generation a decent life. And I see my parents with the mum, they've sacrificed so much, and it's hard to go against that sort weight.

It's quite an experience the westerners are fortunate enough to not have to go through.

Might be a good time to remind folks that Western, more specifically, Christian colonization across the 19th century is what caused homophobia to become a widespread social bias in China(and many places around the world). Ancient China was practically the Greeks with several Emperors that were publically bisexual and had both male and female concubines.

maybe it was recon in 29 and not just now. the dad i saw is in the earliy chapter when reread.
Because now that you point out chap 29, now that i take a look at 29, they look like 2 different guy.

Tong tong's mom will finally allow her to escape her shitty life and maybe reform her shitty personality a bit.

One of the most eye-opening things you can do, that I think a lot of ancient spiritual teachers were trying to get across to us, is simple:

Treat messed up adults like abused children in your own mind.

Realize they didn't want to be like this, and became like this without wanting it. Free Will means we choose what direction we take, it doesn't mean we decide our fate; that's why the choices of others matter, because others exercising their Free Will can effect our own will/lives.

I'll always remember the Avatar episode where they found Ozai's baby picture. Even the worst tyrant was once an infant. That's why despots/dictators run with the "I am a god" BS. They can't admit they were crapping their diapers as a baby like everyone else.

Its too early in the morning for this level of tragic backstory author! :meguuusad:

I'm still not sure if I ship the moms more as friends or lovers. More than anything else Luxi's mom needs a good friend.

So we knew Luxi's mother fought with the father, and it's now clearer why (I don't think it was quite as explicit before, though still pretty obvious). And we now know she was forced into this marriage. She's absolutely getting it on with Tong Tong's mom. Mom x Mom yuri, let's go!

“I had a sad childhood so I’m homophobic” is definitely one of the backstories of all time
Your comment is prime example of why media literacy needs to be taught in schools. Incorrectly simplifying it and then mocking her homophobia as a product of a "sad childhood" is fucking disingenuous. She grew up poor in a 70-80s staunchly traditional chinese household so yea her values would indeed reflect that upbringing.

Circumstance does not excuse behavior, until that behavior is corrected and amends are made I couldn’t care less, and I imagine many hold the same thoughts

A bunch of y'all keep shipping the moms together. You do realize that would make the girls practically related to each other, right?
