I don't think we actually got to see how she was getting rejected in the actual novel, I believe it went from meeting Leon directly to her being mad after failing to get along with any of the guys. I guess they wanted to add context as to why she became a target of that noble girl instead.

I know this is a spin of and i get how she missed her chance to go for the prince but if she was like this with the others how the hell did she get them on the main route?

I heard the targets here are kinda different from the "main novel universe". Something something, "Less (or different kind of) stupid, more cruel"
Read a long time ago myself, don't remember exactly.

the targets are mostly the same, however, the situation and experiences are different.

In the Marie Route, Marie fails all targets, and Olivia follows her original role, so we get to see a bit more of how the story was supposed to be, and how was Olivia's own situation among these 5 nobles.

At the same time, the 5 are not the same retards we see in the main novel, which we could suggest that behavior to be consequence of Marie's own actions in influencing them. In here, they are more natural and ambitious. They are not stupid.

This is likely a hint on the author to show Marie's lack of luck in love, it's not that she can't find love, it's that she either looks for the bad characteristics, or she, as described previously as having boyfriends who would take her money and so on, she may be the one who turns them useless.

I like how this manga thoroughly cooks Marie's story and making her the POV. On the original, Leon is almost the MC. It seems the author wanna makes her the only MC.

On the canon route, Leon and Olivia immediately meet and he helped her. He felt guilty taking Luxion since she was supposed to be the one who should have found him and also helping her should also makes her stronger for the last boss.

But I also think this Marie is different from the canon Marie we know. Let's just say she was too much of a brocon and God took pity on that.

Pretty much. Unlike the main route, here Olivia not only met the capture targets before Marie got the chance to do so, but Marie was also distracted because Leon has been living rent free in her head since he prevented her from getting the Julius event (iirc in the LN, when she approached Greg, it's directly stated that she couldn't focus on the capture targets because Leon's face kept showing up in her mind).

Getting 300 Years Old Witch flashbacks :pacman:
I love that one, she basically allowed them to be scumbags instead using her knowledge to actually turn them decent, well the poet was kinda turning up good and self aware at least.

But back on topic, curse my double braided buns fetish, that version of Stephanie is off the rails. Sadly, very hard pass...

No no, they're actual people with brains and personalities this time. The heroine brainrot hasn't set in.

That was the web-novel. This is adapting the light novels (official english release goes under "Trapped in a Dating Sim: Otome Games Are Tough For Us, Too!"). There is quite a lot of new content for web novel readers! We get to see a multi-phase war play out, that the web novels skipped to the end of lol. Someone summarized the new content over on it's tvtropes page.
