I understand the feeling of inadequacy that comes from comparing what you make to those made by others. Especially when it comes to something you love, but just like Meru said, no matter how you try to compare it, what you make is unique to you. It could only have been made by you, the things you’ve experienced, all that interests you, everything is altogether connected in shaping your creativity. Everyone starts somewhere, even if you don’t feel like it’s good enough, you’re always going to be your harshest critic. Someone out there will find the value in it, will see the heart and soul you let bleed through.
So long as you care, so long as you try, there will always be value in what you make, even if you can’t see it. Shizuka is always doubting herself, always putting herself down because she feels inadequate, she can’t even speak properly yet despite that she keeps pushing on. She sees her own lack of ability to do certain things as proof of her not being good enough. So no matter how she may really feel, it never goes further than a passing thought. This time however she had someone who sought her out for that unique perspective she has, Meru came to her not just because she was curious, but because she knew if anyone was capable of making something that might save her from this hell she found herself in, it would be Shizuka.
All of this happiness, all this love and the purity of it all was too steep a hurdle for any possible story she could tell to overcome. She needed Shizuka just as much as Shizuka needed her. Books brought them together in a sense, and now new books will be made which may save others just as they have eachother.
I still remember when everyone was asked what their future plans were, way back when Ahko was introduced. Shizuka was undecided, maybe she knew what she wanted but she lacked the courage to be honest about it, or maybe ever since then she thought about it and found her resolve. Either way now she has a wish, a goal she wants to achieve, Shizuka is now an aspiring writer, and I have no doubt she has what it takes to make a name for herself. That pure love she has for books and stories as a whole, I just know whatever she makes will be filled to the brim with just as much love.
