For the record, Atlanta had a couple of really strong marijuana strains circulating a few couple decades ago that would make your ears "pop", sort of like you were hearing something high pitched. Loud was the term to describe the effect, for example "this shit is loud asf" eventually it would turn into a compliment for everything. So the answer is yes, it's a compliment.

Though we stopped using it in the early 2010s so I'm surprised to see it here. Maybe people on the internet picked it up later (as always).

The fact that the answer was blindingly obvious in the last panel, but they still put the answer upside down at the bottom like a newspaper puzzle makes me smile like a fool.

I realized while reading this—there were only two pages for set up before each girlfriend got one page devoted to each of them—how is the writer going to handle chapters like this one when there are more girlfriends than there are pages? It would be a bit jarring to have a simple gag like this split between two chapters. I guess they could pair the girlfriends off like they did for the hide-and-seek chapter, the shopkeeper chapter, the friend equipment chapter, and probably many more, but it would be a bit sad not seeing each girl get her own page anymore.
