It’s nearly Halloween so this is a nice chapter for the occasion. Goddamnit Mai, you can’t go one panel without breaking the fourth wall can you? Your desire to keep that panel as a keepsake overwrited your desire to get a good shot in the first place. Poor Karane can’t fight back while getting groped, glad to see everyone having fun especially with this callback to the “Maid Water Gun” event.

It would be nice if we get one of these group event chapters every time we hit a big milestone. From the maid battle, idol mini arc, and this, there are quite a good few chapters and arcs dedicated to these big group events, can’t forget the sports festival.

The gag is that she doesn't understand loan words (especially from English), no matter when that loan word entered the Japanese language — hence things like her calling cars "iron horses" and not understanding land-line telephones, when such things were obviously common when she's supposed to have been young. It's a big part of why she has such trouble understanding Naddy.

I'd assume it's because her dialogue is mostly groans, and it'd be too difficult to work her phone while doing that arms-out zombie stagger.

That said, we've seen that she talks through her books largely to bypass her stammer. It may be that performing with this zombie groan voice bypasses that in the same way that singing does (see the karaoke chapter or the idol arc).

Another reason against using her phone is that they're shooting water guns and she didn't prepare a water-proof case like in the pool episode.

She also counted aloud, but I guess she's at ease enough to do at least that kind of non-conversational speaking.

It's hilarious how Rin's intro literally just doing the one joke you expect her to do (paddle Iku) and Karane calling it weird, and then IMMEDIATELY pivots to something else (and that something else is kino).
I love Rin, she's a great character, but this is definitely one of the few rare exceptions where I think Nakamura actually couldn't come up with an idea, so supplanted it with another one that most likely sat on the backburner for a while.

Rentarou, if you aren't gonna shoot anyone, give your gun to Nano so she can dual wield.

Kurumi, your plan has a major flaw: now that you're a zombie, Hahari can just throw herself in the way of someone you try to bite so that you bite her.
EDIT: I honestly forgot that is actually what happened. Either my mind subconsciously remembered that, Hahari has become predictable to me, or I understand the thought processes of the characters and/or Nozawa way too much.
