Maybe I missed something, but it seems a little odd they only just figured Nox out. The portal in the castle I could see as being hard to connect with him, but Nox used some sort of mysterious magic to basically choke out Carlisle in front of a bunch of people and no one asked how he did it.

The answer to this is simple, they had no way of knowing! Basically, sorcery is something banned in the empire, which is blessed by gods and we are dealing with nobles/church, in addition to the protagonists having only fought against humans, not the supernatural (even if some noble/priest knew what it was about, talking about it was the same as declare a warlock!). Another thing is that sorcery and divine power do not coexist and Gabriel is a high priest (this means that his divine power has been formally recognized!), so the idea is that he could be using other methods, since almost no one has knowledge about sorcery, there was no way to identify it (Asha only came to an understanding after consulting the elders of her fiefdom, who had already studied the barbarians of the abandoned lands at the time of her parents and were more familiar with dark magic)~ :nyoron:
