1. Chise never learns and normally I'll say that'll get her killed someday but there's no way she's gonna die anytime soon
2. Elias split himself in half so that he could talk to Seth? When Chise was talking to Seth, half of Elias was with her (I didn't figure that out until I read it a second time) and Seth had to ask Elias, "Mr. Ainsworth, what are you doing looking like that?" which makes sense now, and plus you see a bit on his half-puppy on page 27.
3. Attacking and killing each other's houses is normal apparently.
4. This Testament of Carnamagos is apparently dangerous (no shit), makes people go crazy, and when Elias said he's bad at that sort of stuff (aka the "subtle arts" whatever that means) I'm guessing he'd probably kill someone (being bad at being subtle?). He also said that Chise would excel at it but "I could never let her do that" hints at the fact that Chise's probably gonna have to do "that" later.
Is this book made of the spider silk?
5. a spider is not an insect so I don't think she's referring to the websters, and also the old lady's glasses remind me of a bug goddamnit.
6. ALso did that werewolf just pull off her mate's head and eat it? Or is that kissing?

I like how Seth’s bodyguard is so snarky towards his boss, hope to learn his name soon.

It seems the mistake the wolfmen made before was sparing Lucy, which their employers apparently didn’t like. Since they mentioned that after killing them, they will have a pack once more, maybe their child is being held hostage to force their obedience. And yikes, mama wolf actually took her mate’s head with her.

I wonder if that interdimensional hole Chise opened is just going to stay there.

For some reason, it looks like Elias isn’t affected by whatever entity is in the book, since it appears he didn’t even feel it when he read it.

Philomela’s grandmother seems to be involved in what is happening, and since we know she serves House Rickenbacker, they might be the antagonists for this arc. I still can’t imagine Veronica just turning out to be evil though.

1. Well, stubborn and honest to themselves characters have their charm, more so when they refuse to lost their innocent against all odds, as Philly mentioned.

2. Yes, you know, when you want to be at two places in one time. It'd be hard to avoid making it a habit.

3. Literally lawless society.

4. I think subtle is about getting into other minds, as the witch just did. Elias isn't exactly adept at human psychology so, you know. On the other Chise is natural at this, as we saw when she had a vision of Lucy's past.

5. Idk if Japanese use different words for insects and spiders.

6. Yes, I think she did take his head, but probably just kiss and take it home. Still scary nonetheless.

5. There is a word for "spider", kumo (蜘蛛), and there is a word for "insect" that excludes spiders (it refers to the class insecta), konchū (昆虫), but she merely said mushi (虫) which also means "insect" but includes spiders, centipedes, etc.

Did that wolf just... took the head of their mate?
Anyway, thank you for the chapter!

Seems like the wolves are being used all the time, and how they got their cub kidnapped for so long. It is also interesting that it seems that Philomela was there during the Webster's massacre, and that it would explain why it panged her so much when she was accused by Lucy of being like the ones who killed her relatives.

Philomela’s grandmother seems to be involved in what is happening, and since we know she serves House Rickenbacker, they might be the antagonists for this arc. I still can’t imagine Veronica just turning out to be evil though.

Probably is the Rickenbacker, as they excel in healing, and they want the life force to heal someone, like Elias and Mariel wanted to before, or Philomella's grandmother (we haven't read yet their house's name, have we?) is using their connection to them for it.
It bugs me that there were lots of spiders and butterfiles hanged on their house, in more than one place.
But if it is them they are most probably using Philomela to do it, which would explain why it happened while camping in Caledonia and that she was called to the house just before the book's disappearance.

At this point, I think that Chise will get involved in so much strange shit that she'llend upwith a body similar to Elias'. Maybe it's the author end goal ?
I'm a bit confused with this chapter too. Who are the bad guys exactly in this...
Also the Spiders were used to copy book and are in the hands of our antagonist ? And the local Necronomicon was stolen as well ? Sounds super fishy.

imo it's SUPPOSED to be hard to care about lucy because honestly, she's kind of a bitch, and she refuses to open up. We, as the reader, haven't really had a chance to get attached to her, even from the standpoint of literal number of panels she's been in. (tbh i still feel more for wolfmama than lucy)

Lucy's whole tragedy is really just a setup for the bigger shit about to start going down, which will probably force Elias to take a more active role. I'm always excited for Elias to do shit, he's fascinating.

life without silky is suffering

I always laugh at these furry anthropomorphs having normal human hair. It looks so ridiculous. Even more ridiculous than that weird face eating / decapitation(?) thing or whatever it was supposed to be.

Anyways, Lucy's a bitch, but she's 100% right for calling Chise's dumbass out. "Looked like she had a child" is such a dumbass excuse. Yea, there could be, and probably is because this is a manga, some contrived situation were they're being forced / are actually good people, but the whole mass murder assassin thing kind of makes that irrelevant. You don't save a clear enemy, who is repeatedly trying to kill you, because they "looked like they had a child". This is the kinda dumbshit that'd get you killed in any realistic series with genuine consequences.

I am still waiting for Chise's badass moment like the one with the dragon flying over London.
The anime truly not doing it dirty, if not better.

Bless your heart, Chise ... so assassins can't have children ? :/ Or should you die because a assasin has children?

I know you have a heart of gold, but seriously ...

It's been many, many years since I've last said this about a character, but Chise is a gigantic Mary Sue. She is quite grating to listen to for any extended period of time.
