I'll be very disappointed if they kill off Zoe to enforce some lesson upon Lucas, that's such a cheap way create character "growth". So far the author's done a good job of having characters gradually learn things through big and little moments without resorting to ham-fisted melodrama like true love's death, so I'm optimistic there.
