That being said, I would hope the baby in p2 is there symbolically, or just to avoid breaking tradition. And that actually, they had this discussion before the little girl's birth.

I am not sure of the details, but mother doesn't have to name the child as soon as the child was born. She has time until she's discharged from the hospital and the birth certificate is to be written.
My mother told me she let me "choose" a name, by reading potential names for me.

I watched a video about names like this in Japan, just recently. Apparently, names like that are now illegal to give to your child.

In large countries with multiple nationalities, naming restrictions have to be weak. For example, in Russia, you aren't allowed to name a child with numbers, titles, symbols, swear words and alphanumeric designations like R2D2. Anything else goes. So "Hazel Engelon" is a valid name.
While small countries can demand that a child is named from a list of approved names. I think it was Iceland or Greenland that did it.
It's funny how Japan manages to be a small country, even though its population is about the same size as Russia.

Iceland. Names must be compatible with language and tradition.

What complicates Japanese names is that they are commonly written in kanji. Each kanji can have multiple meanings and readings, and some phrases can be written several diffrent ways in kanji, and there are 800+ that are only used in names. There actually exists a Dictionary of names that are difficult to read in Japanese.

Imagine a name that is written "Blessed Virgin" but pronounced Mary.
