@Aichan eh i don't know if getting divorced once would bring as much derision and shame as, say, divorcing twice, thrice, or four times (quarice?). i'm sure most of her honor would be left intact as long the divorce proceedings went smoothly, and neither act in a way that makes others think that something shameful happened. i think remaining a spinster forever is worse than getting married then divorced, because one could always say MC made an effort, but ended up with an incompatible partner. sure gossip can make her look bad, but if the ex-husband is insistent on denying the negative rumors about the ex-wife (like ones saying she was unfaithful) and scolding the gossipers (for spreading baseless and malicious misinformation) then it doesn't have to as severe as seen in other stories.
if anything, i think the husband proposing a marriage only three months after the death of his previous wife looks much worse for both of them. depending on the culture of the manga's society, i'd expect mourning to last somewhere between six months to a whole year. but we don't know how much influence this man has, so maybe people won't be as critical, who knows! 🤔 anyhow i don't think she'll jump into this marriage contract until the contract is written and the terms are established. MC will probably be fine (for now lol)
