wouldn't it technically be better for them to announce that yamada's in a relationship when she makes her debut? Ik in real life the idol/jpop/kpop/etc managers exploit so many of the relationships of the idols to maintain the parasocial relationship the fans have with their favorite idols, but it wouldn't be helpful that when yamada starts to get famous and is in highschool still, to announce she's in a relationship cus the new fans would already know that and would keep some sort of realism when idolizing her? Ik this prolly couldn't be done in real life, but its interesting food for thought.
That would tank her popularity because ultimately, idol capitalized on that exact parasocial relationship to succeed. If her images required her to be a "pure girl", which many of them need to be, having a lover would genuinely never make her famous, or not to the extend that her career might need to be. Which is why it's genuinely one of the best idea to never, NEVER, EVER idolized someone, at least if you don't know them personally. Idolized your parents, siblings if they treated and raised you well, don't idol strangers.

So many japanese media keep calling out how horrible the japanese idol industry is.

Once too many times to just be a coincidence.

When the very people who work in these industries are crying out "THIS IS FUCKED UP AND NEEDS TO STOP!", maybe it's a sign that there is something intrinsically wrong with this industry.

That's Norio-sensei foreshadowing again. There will be a chapter where Kyo will have to cross-dress. If Norio-sensei decides to do something in line with the usual anime tropes, then it might be a school play where Anna will play a prince and Kyo will play a princess. However, I remember that they've done a school festival already. They might have one again this year.

Money speaks louder sadly enough. They profit too much from lonely men trying to buy companionship.

Guys, please. She's not an idol. Have you ever seen a celebrity be hounded by the paparazzi? This isn't an idol situation, it's a celebrity situation. They're different. The only time the manga implies romantic interest towards Yamada(the student, not as a celebrity) is with her classmates. This isn't about lonely men on tiktok. Hell, this very chapter implied it's mostly girls that watch the drama, and are aware of her. She's a model. Not an idol. Her entire career is something mostly women would take an interest in.

The only reason I felt like making this lengthy post is because we have this discussion every chapter, but nobody seems to understand the nature of her work. Read the manga guys, and if you wanna obsess over idol culture, do it in a manga with idols. I rather like them, really, and do see merit in your points, but none will play the devil's advocate to it. Just save it for where it actually applies, is all I ask.

You see, Japan idols business thrived on virgin losers fantasy of their idols' purity. In relationship = less popularity & they might even get harassed.

It's not about being an idol by career, but having an idol status. Remember the cute Japanese weather girl whose popularity tanked after a picture of her attending her fiancee's tennis match she uploaded on socmed spurred controversy, causing her to resign from the job?

I think you're underestimating the so-called "no dating rule".
Even newscasters can't avoid that "rule"; look up the case about Hiyama Saya.
I recommend watching Japanalysis' video about that particular case.

Well, to be fair here. Remember when Kyotarou goes to her shoot and meets her manager? The Manager-kun tells him that Yamada being in relationship puts her career in jeopardy. So I would say the concerns are valid here.

Yeah, I'm familiar with that case too. But I don't think that's what Norio is going for with this. We should keep to the perspective of the manga first, rather than trying to equate real life cases. In that case, in all fairness it's a grown woman. Why they had such a view of a newscaster, not even I could tell you, but it's a whole different ball game...and rather, an oddity among most cases.

The way I see it, it isn't men being the big concern in her line of work. In school, maybe, but outside of that, perhaps not. They're still middle schoolers, so...y'know, realistically most wouldn't have such feelings toward her. Logically speaking. But in the case of her fans being women, not all would accept Ichikawa as boyfriend material. They likely have their own opinions of who could be, and in most cases, it'd be another actor. It's a rather common thing, both in manga and real life. It's why it's so common for celebrities to date other celebrities, both for the viewers sake and for their image's sake.
I feel like BokuYaba touched upon that also, given the nature of their relationship. It might seem self-deprecating because we see it from Ichikawa's perspective, but not even their classmates could see the two of them being together, and it's part of why they struggle so much with being honest about their relationship.
