Because they're freaking middle schoolers? With unexplored issues, at that. What the hell are you expecting? These interactions are actually extremely real.

Because these are young teenagers (13-14-ish) in the throes of hormonal chaos. Not to mention Kyo has obvious issues that have yet to be properly explored.

Hell, they're all just damn kids. Give them a break. They're all going to be awkward and derpy about social interactions, especially when it comes to the people they like like (particularly if they don't realize that's what it is, too, since these are probably first crushes).

Anna and Chihiro (Kobayashi) isn't yuri, it's just a close friendship. Pay attention to how Anna is interacting more and more with Kyo. She's also socially awkward, but in a different way, and she's trying to get to know him as best she can. She might work as a model, but that doesn't mean she knows how to behave around others. Look at how she derped in the store with the magazines back in Ch.7.

Just enjoy the story about a pair of derps trying to get closer to each other and their derpiness with their friends.

This coming from a guy who is here after binging the two seasons of the anime earlier this year, to be fair.
