Considering how loud his proclamation that he was going to go buy something was I'd be shocked if Moe and Nyaa didn't realize that Ichikawa was there despite them apparently not noticing him on the first page. And then Yamada gets up a minute later and goes after him. They probably started to at least suspect that Yamada was crushing on him here.

Sekine suspects and, as we'll later see, at this point heartily disapproves. Nyaa is aware but canonically disinterested.

I'll give this guy credit. For a dumb highschooler in a manga, he's astoundingly good at reading the mood.

He's actually a middle-schooler. It's been pointed out a few times they're still in middle school. But yes, he's actually surprisingly capable in that respect, even more so with it in mind he's younger than you thought.

It's not often that romance stories are about middle school students. The only other one I can currently think of off the top of my head is SukiMega.
