Always has been. The novella epilogue makes it absolutely clear she's been strongly drawn to him from the very start...and that "the very start" was way before we all thought it was.
Yeah, I don't see how to square the two. Unless that's how Icchi thinks she see him at those points in hindsight?
You can square the two by saying that Yamada was attracted to Ichikawa, but wasn't yet aware of this attraction until chapter 27, when Ichikawa buys her the Milk Tea during the workplace visit. It's a bit more obvious from Ichikawa's point of view where "I want to kill her" is obviously just his chūnibyō tendencies layered over his real feelings.

Oh geez, I just remembered they don't know. And that "you can't rely on that guy" was totally not targeted at Yamada's choice/taste.
Then again, IIRC only Moe knows they're dating, Nyaa doesn't know yet.
I wonder: what did Moeko mean on the last page, when she tugged on Serina's sleeve?

Ichikawa's family is insanely rich. His older sis goes to Waseda which is like a really high ranking private uni that's really expensive, their house is a landed one, and he's planning to go to a private HS... Damn!

I just assumed this had something to do with some sort of 'leave it alone' signal, since she knows about Kyo and Anna, and on top of that knows Kyo pretty well at this point and may have an idea of what he's thinking.

There's a bit of a swish line on the next panel, the second-to-last one in the lower right, implying Moeko shook her head, which is the actual 'leave it alone' signal.

Also, Anna was starting to be aware of the depth of her feelings in the elevator, I believe, before the milk tea- it's just the milk tea seemed to hammer it home more clearly to the point she had to sit there with the bottle for a few beats. Really, it was that whole workplace observation trip that was Yamada realizing she's in love with Kyo. And before that, I want to say since the 'I'm interested' for her and the 'I like her' for him align, she must have realized she was at least interested that day she locked eyes with him in the gym before her nose got hit and started bleeding.

But yeah, the way the commentary extra from the end of last volume went, it felt like she was already kinda interested in him by Ch.1, though she didn't really know how much, just that she remembered she was getting excited by him looking at her and then approaching her in the library. I suspect that's the start of the 'funny person' segment on the timeline.

It's a shame we don't have any indication of when 2nd year sports festival happened on that timeline, as that was also seen as a turning point with them that we only got to see through flashbacks, with Kyo protecting Anna from falling while participating in the centipede race, since it took place before the day they first interacted in the library.

Ngl, is pretty hard to buy that they're only now going to high school. Honestly, only Anna has the mind of her age, just the mind tho.
Might just be the girls and Kyo, really. I do feel like girls and women tend to be more mature, which is a bit reflected in the fact they go through puberty first. I kinda suspect Adachi and the other guys to not think too deeply about their choices, actions, etc... like these girls have.

I still hold out hope Adachi grows the frak up, though, but he's like the most generic of middle school boy of the bunch, I feel- very crass, dirty-minded... and little respect for girls/women. Lately he's fixated on Kyo's neesan, Kana, and I honestly think he has no hope with her. I want him to keep his sights within his own grade.

Only one of the girls I think would tolerate him is Moeko, but she has to find him good-looking for that, and I dunno if she does (the anime implies there might be interest in its version of the aftermath of the sports festival, but the manga has no such indication of interest, thus far), because I say he can fit her condition for 'slime' pretty well.

It would be oddly fitting if the two that are the closest to Kyo at this point, one from each gender, that aren't Anna end up together, at least. Just seems unlikely right now.

so the sketch in the previous chapter where she tease her bf that she gonnna kiss someone else is canon ?,or just a fucking cliff hanged
People were speculating the tease wasn't real Anna, but a Kyo-delusion from his insecurities, since she wasn't contained to the phone like the one above it.

So, If we take this AI at face value and the time stamp here, we know that Sports Festival happened not too long before Karte 1 (I prefer to think it happened in May, since that would give time to Yamada to "forget" the injury Ichikawa suffered to protect her, while still keeping her interest in him by that situation).

It's also kinda weird 4 months passed between Karte 1 and 14, but I assume here it was a time where neither Kyotaro nor Anna were actively looking for the other's company, so interactions between them were pretty scarce.

I'm not sure about that. If any, manga shows us Yamada's apartment is more luxury than Ichikawa's house and Kyotaro's allowance is kinda low (3 000 yens, 1 000 of them used to invest in Anna). It's possible Kanna goes to Waseda thanks to her father standing as a professor.
