@firosahoge You've a seriously shallow understanding of the human condition if you think the typical Japanese approach to child-rearing is a healthy one, considering their adults often end up being overinhibited to a near-pathological degree. Children are meant to be a handful.

Normal terrorist is fine, there are two questions that are of concern:

1. Does he solve it like batman, power ranger or jackiechan?

2. Can that mom be added to the harem?

Children are meant to be a handful.
You lost the battle before you even started it. I'm not saying that Japanese child-rearing is perfect, but they do emphasize empathy, and getting kids to apologize like this is normal for them. Kids need a LOT of investment, but afterword it's smooth sailing. To say they're MEANT to be a handful? What do you even mean by that? Of course it's extremely difficult to raise children. Time, investment, compassion, maturity, selflessness, etc., but kids can be even more mature than a lot of our selfish generation of "adults". Saying they're meant to be a handful reeks of low expectations and self-fulfilling prophecies. My parents raised 8 children and from my experience and their own words, we were great and obedient children that are still harmonious. On the other hand, some American families can't even raise a single child without them becoming monsters. Your original post said that this portrayal of children's maturity was unrealistic. I say to you that it is very realistic and possible with the right values and parenting methods, my own family as an example.

@firosahoge Why do people keep throwing America-related shit at me when I've never supported their values, ever been there, or brought them up in the conversation? I don't know if you're an American being America-centric or someone from somewhere else being presumptuous, but it made you sound dumb either way.

Any given singular example is not particularly irrelevant to a statistical tendency, so you're also dumb by trying to make yourself relevant there. You're talking about your own parents, two specific people out of 7.8 billion, presented from the blatantly biased and therefore unreliable perspective of their offspring, to somehow counteract a point I'm making about a country famous for its people overworking themselves to the point of physical and/or mental failure and the cultural origins of this phenomenon and then not even really addressing the point.

It's also fully irrelevant to the phrase "children are meant to be a handful" because a kid who's being quiet and doing as they're being told is utterly different from a kid who doesn't need to be paid attention to. In fact, it's worrying that your idea of an "obedient kid" and "well-raised" are somehow conflated into the same idea, because it's the type of attitude that creates office shooters.

As for saying kids can be more mature than children, yes, technically they can, but if it's something that happens to the degree where it's anything but an extreme minority of child-adult pair comparisons, obviously something is wrong with either the children you know, the adults you know, or you just don't really understand the meaning of the word "maturity".

As an American, most Americans don't think other countries exist, basically;

They might be abroad in a non-English speaking country's airport, and demand the staff to speak English.
