I'm surprised to see myself hate on the head maid to a level I didn't expect. Is it because she's a victim turned bully?

still have doubt for those three....well maybe less for the one who knew her mistake is unforgivable...
no retribution for head maid for sure.
and good Cale, test for Chloe, she wont disappoint him!

one would think she's from a noble house or something close, judging from her behaviour. is she?

I still don't like Cale for leaving original Chloe on her own like he did and ignoring her pain

See, this is quite interesting for a lot of reasons.

Firstly, the maids are fearing Chloe for the reason they should've feared her all along; she has authority over them. But also, now that the other shoe has dropped, regardless of if you find it forgivable, their behavior is much more rational and functional than the head maid.

Second, we don't have any mention of Chloe considering forgiving them-though I would argue that if she wants to change herself, then it's mostly fair for her to give others the opportunity to do the same (not to mention old Chloe wronged at least one of the servants in the past).
And lastly...yeah. Making them recite their crimes is quite the remarkable power play. There's the sheer guilt and fear bringing the past up would cause, but also it makes everything far more grounded and made for a nice marker for the varying levels of bullying they all did.

That's the best punishment, confess all the things you've done in front of the person you've done it to.

It was a nice act from Chloe.

But one of the maid didn't really deserve it, the one who didn't do anything and just ignored the bullying.
I mean, what could she do ? If she tried to defend Chloe, she would be against all the others workers, it would be hell.

Whoa talk about an intense punishment. That's kind of wild.

Thank you for the mass release! Super great surprise c:

I think the idea is that mindset buys into mob mentality. If that repentant maid banded together with the maid Chloe now drinks tea with and actively protested their treatment of the old Chloe, the repentant maid wouldn’t have anything to kneel and apologize for

Ahh, Chloe has to go through so much because of her past self. Really can't forgive those people- Cale really.
Thanks for the update!!!

Bruh it's so wild to me that this whole maid power struggle is a thing. She's their employer and has the Duke on her side (for the most part). Just fire Coline and be done with it. We don't need a whole subplot about it.

Just end the thinking at "He's testing me" then bam chapter end.
Also how the fuck is a workplace society reputation a thing? Why would the wife of the OWNER of the house give a FUCK?
