@mammaria doesn't jp allow marriage between cousins because of their own declining birth rate? I'm not sure if this was the point you had with Leon

I really like the underlying story, but sometimes the guys yandere behavior/jealousy comes across as creepy or controlling. If it wasn't for their attractiveness, they'd come across as controlling, rude, intolerable, needy, and just plain undesirable. Limiting her agency, seemingly in man-child like fashion. I get it, but it still bugs me. I much prefer characters like the male lead in Snow White with the Red Hair who acts really mature and non-authoritarian in his live for the female lead. It's really beautiful. He respects her and depends upon her as an equal. Ah.... ❤️

But, Sidis acts like the kid she remembers. Now, perhaps, he has been so traumatized at losing her in the past that he still clings to those feelings, but even if he does, that needs to get worked out in the plot.as for the setting itself, the Empire strikes me as at best as "Enlightened Despots". There's a lot of potential for political philosophy in the plot, but I wonder if it will ever be addressed? 🤔

A group release and then this cliff hanger%!!!!! I love the fluffy romance cuteness. I’m not at all completely swayed by the dog ears and tail....

@Hypothon i mean i feel like i've heard that before but there's still people who wouldn't do it, i feel like our mc may be one of them??? bc she grew up with him as family... but then again idk so who knows. it's weird to me tho so that's why i can't root for him lmao (i think though that since they're nobles (in god knows what age, in god knows what universe) i can't assume that it would have been an impediment in the first place, but nobles tend to be more... lax about marrying between family afsljasfdljk so i guess it's mostly a gut feeling from me

@TheDragonLord: Comparing any old fantasy-shoujo protagonists to those of Akagami no Shirayukihime is unfair. That's setting the bar for quality really high, like as high as it goes.

Sidis is... an interesting beast, in terms of likable/unlikable love interests. It is true that if he wasn't cute, his whole kicked-puppy feel would not work out nearly as well for him. He's just a wee bit too insistent and too jealous by far. On the other hand, if I imagine him as, say, a stocky, unhandsome man instead... the overgrown man-child feeling would be much stronger, and he'd be a somewhat different character, really; I suppose I to some degree unconciously assume Sidis doesn't correct his behaviour partially because people have let him get away with being childish, on account of his puppy-dog looks.
(And also ultimately yes, ugly-Sidis would be a much more obviously flawed character to our looks-biased eyes, although there could be some humanity in that, though we'd be drifting pretty quickly out of shoujo territory there...)

Though the prince I think basically has no personality at this point, and the black-haired, black-souled magician is plenty creepy without looking any worse. And of course, the protagonist is awesome. If she weren't pretty (obligatory as that may be for shoujo protagonists) she's definitely still be awesome.

(...As for the Empire and their moral dark-grey status, I just took it as the author being sufficiently a realist to recognize that kingdoms are built on the backs of the dead and the glory of royalty is built from that which is taken from everyone else. I'm not really sure it's going to get explored too deeply; rather I was sort of getting the impression the story knowingly cedes to moral relativism and leaves it at that.)

So damn lost
I still have no idea why she has a block about the empire
her density is about at the level of neutronium
