These proportions :dogkek:
You know how one of Elma's skill required him to step on the enemy's shadow to halt their movement? This to help him with that.

I'll say it again: Marquis is most likely a Jester like Luce.

"Clueless Brute with nothing but martial prowess."
<-- Marquis is referring to Elma's father. We know from the before that Elma's father and the Marquis don't get along -- personality/style clash.

It feels like to me that if Elma told Harden that he’s from another world & this is a game he played, he would believe him without any doubt. Harden is open minded & more than likely assist Elma since they both don’t want things going out of control. Thanks for the translations.
No need for "game player from another world". Just say "I have a blessing of vast knowledge of class mechanics."

From Marquis' POV:
  • Elma knew how to turn the "weak" tank class into a very strong dps tank class.
  • Elma also was able to take Luce (kicked from her previous group) and quickly turn her into a powerhouse.
  • And he worked with Hunter and Priest to tweak provide the perfect counter to Kalos.
  • And he has knowledge about rare dungeon mechanics and risks. Some of that he might know via his father, but Elma seems to have even rarer, suspicious knowledge (the trapezoid mana crystals used to catalyze a zerg).
  • Suspect something like "Some group has a vast secret knowledge of class mechanics."
  • Elma was in the group, but rebelled/escaped." This would mean that Elma knows much about this group.
  • OTOH, Elma hasn't gone to great lengths to hide his knowledge. (Simply leveling up so fast is very suspect.)
  • Nonetheless, Elma has worked to oppose this other group in a way that suggests that Elma did not know about it a priori.
  • Perhaps, Elma got the meta-knowledge from the same source. (Secret books?)
  • Either way, if Elma has vast meta-knowledge, then best step is to extract as much knowledge from him as possible.
  • OTOH, this is god-like knowledge. Probably a bad idea to kill the golden goose.
Huh... If Marquis follows that logic, then best approach is to probe and put mild pressure on Elma, but not push him so far as to alienate him. Try to gain more insight into his character and intentions. ... Which is what Marquis is doing right now.

From Elma's POV:
  • It doesn't make sense that Marquis would release multiple catastrophes in his own domain.
  • OTOH, that doesn't mean that the Marquis knows nothing. There might be different factions with advanced knowledge fighting each other.
  • But vs that theory: It was Elma who identified and countered the threat from Kalos. If the Marquis had known, he would have created his own counter.
  • Still Marquis is canny, and clearly recognizes that Elma has anomalous, advanced knowledge.
Best bet is not admit anything. At most admit an "intuition". Other than that, deny special knowledge. Marquis will know that you know more, but probably won't put extreme pressure on you. Try to feel out what the Marquis knows and where he stands.

I wish Luce wears something like ribbon or something on her formal attire for substituting her huge jester hat. She feels bald without it.

its interesting that Marquis can talk with different kind of pressure but he can keep on moderate if the situation is needed, it's truly give how capable of him as higher rank noble.

Yeah... His actions and words would make sense if he already knew about the "players". He clearly suspects that Elma has some kind of meta-knowledge about the game world. And the fact that he does, implies it is not the first time he has heard about it.
I wouldn't go that far that he knows of meta-knowledge.
Most stories like these rely on "god/-dess revelations" to brush the issue of game Isekai under the rug and not offend these living breathing entities.

I kind of feel like more characters should probably do that in the Isekais in the first place. I mean, it's the most rational explanation of most of their strange knowledge and abilities, at least most of the time.

Depending on how much of the conversation with Kalos was already reported the easiest escape might be to confirm but also redirect the Marquis' suspicion to the unknown person that taught Kalos. Kalos himself was clearly part of the cult but I'm not sure that conversation would translate well into a report.

It won't be like the Maruis has no suspicion towards Elma but it should relieve the pressure on him.
