It's nice to see the nobles aren't all retarded. Even the dad that banished Elma had a logic behind his actions, even if he was ultimately incorrect. The fact that he hasn't bothered Elma since then either makes him alright.

Or... get him entrenched in his views even further, or say that because he banished his son, MC became so strong
this is actually false, MC would become strong anyway, and much faster than he is now had he maintain his noble status and wealth, as mentioned the noble is monopolizing all the skill books and black market is charging triple/quadruple the price for it, had he maintain his noble status and wealth he can get all the access for skills, equipment and speed to get stronger, being as he is now means his goal to reach is just longer and harder , thats all

Biologically she is. But since she's legally adopted by his father, she would now be his sister, even though Elma is disowned.

So one can both refer to her as either his sister or cousin.
its not modern ages, nobles and peasants alike sometimes pairs and marries their cousin and nephews, while royalties depends on which sometimes marries their childrens to each other, or worse, siblings. To keep the bloodline pure I think

I assume her drop-dead gorgeous mom had weird taste in men.
as nobles, no matter how cartoonishly ugly u get, u get all-access type of women you like, because you can, just look at this one for example : https://mangadex.org/title/d408f3c2...ogatari-isekai-harem-eiyuu-senki?tab=chapters
even if the MC isnt looking like goblins, he sure did have ways with women, ALOT of women, just because he's noble, just because he's royalty, just because he's strong, just because he can

Hulrod vs Edvan: This is partially a personality clash. But it's also a pragmatic issue for Hulrod. Edvan is on the (nobles) team but he's not carrying his weight since he's stuck in a simple minded, meathead past -- and that's dragging the team down. So Hulrod is basically saying "Get your shit together, or you'll get kicked out."

The further aggravation for Hulrod is that Elma has the smarts to play by the new reality (this is aside from his own combat ability). And that fool Edvan kicked Elma out of the family -- only to have that double fail since Elma proved that he was extremely combat capable. And Hulrod is smart enough to guess that Elma could have explained it to his father, but his father was too meat headed to even listen.

Marisu: Pretty much guaranteed that we'll be seeing her soon. And that chick is really psycho. And she's got a fixation on Elma So that's going to be a mess.

Harden is so funny since my man still looks like a guy who is 100% up to no good which fuck he probaly are in some ways but shit i dunno man Hes legit spitting fire with a face like that
He absolutely looks like the first villain that has to be overcome in the worst kind of isekai, but hot damn I've never disagreed with him.

(Nice of him to invite the other counts to this roast)

Ya know, putting aside the weird choice of makeup and accessories and how he steamrolled over his daughter causing her to be so timid, the count isn’t a bad guy and that makes me happy.

Thanks for the chapter.

A lot of people speculate it’s a class trait, that he’s like the advanced version of Luce’s Jester class(she has the teardrop markings). Since class seems to influence your appearance as well(which is pretty obvious in this room)
That's... A pretty cool world building detail. Not just a wacky design thing but also a byproduct of their world's rules.
Harden started looking like Nosferatu out of curiosity for his class. Neat.

If not for Lucy I’d say marry the daughter, harden is a good crazy. Alignment wise so far man seems like either lawful evil or chaotic good

It's one of the subtleties in the typecasting in this manga.

The actual good, sensible Noble looks like the lovechild of a goblin and a clown.
He's still a Noble in a power meritocracy, and not nice.
But he is not afraid to use his not inconsiderable power to "Rule Wisely" , much like the "Enlightened" Kings of yore tried to do. Still absolute rulers, but with the focus of their rule aimed to development and stability for most, with the future in mind.

Compare that to the Square-jawed Noble Visage of Elma's father, who is basically a meathead Robber-baron and the living embodyment of Entitled Nobility.

He's not a robber baron. He drilled into Elma from an early age basic swordsmanship and the expectations of nobility to protect the people/land. The problem is his whole outdated "class reveals personality" fortune-telling shtick and the idea that battles are waged with one champion cutting down thousands. He kicked out Elma because "Heavy Knights are indolent bums" and that runs against everything he thinks nobility requires.

= robber-baron.

They protect their turf, as they see it, and nothing else.
Doesn't mean they don't care about "protecting the land"... Actual abusive nobles were rare until well into the late medieval/early renaissance period.
Peasants and Commoners were very much not fluffy bunnies, in fact they made up most of the nobles' militia...
And ...Accidents Happen... Happened quite frequently to those nobles who...overextended their reach..

Except for the French** .. They never bloody learned, even after several ... lethal surprises... and Culling of the Bad Seeds by mere "peasants". And two Revolutions effectively eradicating all the old Families..
And then they replaced the old Nobility with the Bureaucracy, which is just as bad.. They're a lost cause, really.

** This includes the high-ranking English, who were effectively french to begin with. Explains a lot about the history of the Isles...

It's a good explanation, but still the specific term "robber-baron" referred to the 19th century unfettered capitalists, not actual barons. In fact, Elma's father is the opposite of a robber-baron because he values his family's military prowess above political manipulation, control over the trade and manipulation of the industry, all of which define the term robber-baron.

Guy is a count trying to act on a small minded scale like a some sort of a baronet, but he's very specifically not a robber-baron.

I’m remembering some other isekai where the MC is cursed to conduct his behavior in the most dickish way possible, and I wonder if Kefka has some class downside or the like that that compels him to do the same.
