Yeah this wasn’t too subtle, many people here already had the same thought as me, Alchemist-San is either the knight or it’s a golem controlled by them. Maybe even both. :korone:

Also loved the funny alchemist explanation panels, this manga has a good track record of making the exposition engaging. :salute:

I love that Luce is just...passive plot armor. Like it makes sense in character AND in the writing room. Lmao
Also negative plot armor at times. She ups rare spawns of MONSTERS too and the Mythril Golem they fought earlier is a noted TPKer.

Luce needs some new apparel too. She has been wearing the same jester outfit for too long. I mean I know she isn't a knight class but in any game there's going to be some kind of super fabric or hide to make high defense light apparel out of.

If high level Alchemists are hard to find, why not just power level one up in return for some work? As many people have pointed out Luce is a rare loot magnet, and Elma knows where to find practically any requested materials. So whether it's monster exp to grind class levels, or materials to mass produce gear to grind crafting levels, Elma and Luce have the ability to make it happen. And as a nice bonus, if they really wanted to climb the social ladder, Elma could introduce them to Marquis Harden to enter their service as a court alchemist.

It's a bit subtle but she already upgraded in chapter 90, pages 5-6.

Celt being the party's unofficial 3rd member is welcome. Honestly, it's great that he's being fleshed out to be more than a mere self-serving scum archer. He's really growing on me as a character.

Also, Luce's luck keeps on being the manga's deus ex machina during non-battle scenes. :pepehmm:
well in author defense you need smth to prolong the plot (in a good way) leaving no plot hole behind. wow what a luck?! well thats due to this chara luck stats and so on. lazy? maybe but we love or jester girl! (i want more sinister yandere dark healer route tho... ignore my preferences...) :pepehmm:

Like many others, I'm in the Celt camp - his personality's so realistic that you know he's the best ally they could've made there. He knows their strengths, owes them a debt, but won't mindlessly throw his life or wellbeing away over it!

Thanks for all of the translations, it's been a pleasure reading this so far!

Levels can be carried, but everything else is suspect.

First you need someone with enough humility to allow a stranger to control all your levels, including taking noncombat skill trees that could put you millions in debt.

Second is someone loyal enough not to leak Elma's information at the first opportunity, and there's a lot to reveal if they need to train someone from scratch.

Third is the sheer time involved. Skills don't make up for player technique, and there's only so much time before the expedition.

Yeah I call BS. True it would be boring for Elma to have a party full of Luce type support characters, but that doesn't mean he couldn't find individuals under similar circumstances that would amenable to trading crafting and harvesting for help with power leveling.

Because I didn't find any of the points relevant...?

  • Passively shouldn't matter. There is no need to micromanage the crafter as long as they are willing to aquire the class skills needed to produce armor for Elma and possibly Luce.
  • Elma's skill list and class isn't exactly hidden information. And despite all the lipservice about keeping his "game knowledge" secret, he spends an awful ammount of time talking in open venues and or in front of nobles about random shit few should have any right to know.
  • As is spending time traveling the continent searching for niche gear for an unpopular class, yet he does so anyway. When all said and done, narrative wise, there isn't much of a difference between finding a newbie willing to be power leveled or convincing a high leveled crafter to craft Elma a set of armor. Either option would have offered the mangaka chapters worth of materials to illiterate and dialog to write.
