eh honestly healing would only hinder them, since his attack strength is proportional to his health lost.
Unless healing him DOESN'T lessen the effect, in which case healing him makes him even stronger
IIRC his savage dragon skill only activates at below 20% and gives him an 100% boost to attack and speed plus he has another skill that gives him 15% boost to those same stats if the opponent is higher lvl than him. I can't remember if he gets another skill that does what you said, but you are correct that healing him wouldn't be in their best interest as he'll instantly lose savage dragon once he's healed.

One thing I just realized is how this was all set up. The book Snow gave to Luce, was first mentioned almost 50 chapters ago. The author mentioned it and slowly made their way to it at a point where readers have naturally forgotten about just how long they were aiming for it.

Healing more so for the lancer and crit clown, though I think Elma’s abilities work on sacrificing health rather than being in proportion to health, a regen buff would make him unstoppable in that case.

Indeed, that’s a good way to show character capability without making other characters look stupid/do stupid things or by doing the lazy work of showing big numbers.
So true! This is something sorely missing in other isekai stories. A way to make not only the MC but the side characters look competent. This was great!

I got used to this story using bloated numbers on the purchase value of items that 2000 XP sounds a tad too little for the difficulty they just faced. Then again, I forgot how much XP they usually get.
Remember exp is shared with all who're currently involved with the fight. Shared exp sucks.

I'm in agreement with you. A regen buff would be ideal as there doesn't seem to be a cooldown on life shield. He could refresh it just as he's about to go above 20% and constantly have temporary hp on top of the boost.

These two would be a nice addition to the party, plus the healer from last time.

It's neither and no it wouldn't. As I mentioned, his biggest stat boosting skill is from having less than 20% health without it he doesn't have the attack power to be a threat to anything or one higher lvl than him. The most he can aim for is a stalemate. He does have a defensive boost that requires sacrificing 20% health but it's not sure if that is stackable. Usually they are not, but if it was he would become the ultimate wall with a healer. And seeing as they did not use a strat like that when he WAS with a healer...we can somewhat assume it's not viable.

Not for nothing, but I’m unlikely to go through your previous comments so referencing them don’t mean much to me. Having said that, his whole build is managing HP and spending it as a resource, having a larger amount to spend is inherently viable. If he needs to lower it…he can just lower it as he has tools to do it.

But agree to disagree.

That's cool, as long as your opinion is based on the actual details from the manga I don't mind agreeing to disagree.
I mostly disagree because to get him to his best he has to be below 20% to take advantage of Savage Dragon (against stronger opponents mind you, he has other tools for weaker/same lvl enemies). If he takes a blow that deals more than 20% that regen isn't going to help much, and he has been hit by blows like that constantly.

IMPO, him just using Savage Dragon to deal the final blow is the best usage because it'll be when they have created the opening to do such. Him constantly raising and lowering his HP mid-fight can and most likely will lead to a moment of misjudgement (which he HAS had before) and then he's dead. So yeah, I agree it's a viable plan but unstoppable? Not in the slightest, again in my opinion going off of how the skills (as far as we know) works.

That's not quite the problem.

Healing with skilled defense control would absolutely make him stronger. The problem is that he lacks the total mp capacity to make his build function for extended periods. The Life Shield costs mp, and Half-dead continuously uses mp. Add to that the constant gear creep that hurts his build a bit more than others, and it's difficult to get have enough leeway for this kind of improvement.

If he can triple his mp with a relatively small number of accessories, then healing would be back on the menu.

You're right, I was focusing on the skills themselves I hadn't even considered MP management. But does Life Shield cost mp? That'll be a something of a dick move to have a skill cost MP and still require to sac 20% of your HP. I think most of his mp usage outside of Half-dead is Shield Bash and Parry.
Also rather than tripling his mp, which no doubt would help, wouldn't having some sort of mp regen accessory be more beneficial for a healing strat? Don't really need so much mp if you can negate the mp drain of HDSD lost all together.
