This really was touching and a good presentation of dealing with the aftermath of so much stress that the MC and characters need to deal with even years after all these major and traumatic events. I really appreciate the depiction of post-partum and perinatal depression. It doesn't absolve her of neglect, but it shows her struggling in a world and time that doesn't know or understand mental health struggles.

@StellarIceberg Exactly, and that just exacerbates the problem of her hearing Harson scheming the downfall of the second prince. She doesn't believe she matters as an individual, and that Harsen chose her as a chess piece. But she just as likely would've married into the family he brought down if she accepted that other guy's proposal (who was her best choice at the time). Meaning she thinks Harsen would've easily killed her too. She's got to deal with this sense of distance from Harsen, her guilty conscience, and Vicente's uncanny resemblance to her husband. I think that was what tipped the scale on top of the deaths and misfortunes in her family, being isolated in society and the house, and going through pregnancy and childbirth alone while being pressured by greedy relatives. I imagine part of her believed that once Harsen returned from war everything would return to normal. But instead she discovers he's nothing like who she thought he was

Flashbacks will end next chapter.
I just want to prepare you guys, but there's more angst coming our way.

T^T

Oh gosh, never thought this webtoon will be full of angst and thorns but surely we'll taste the sweetest fluff when they do reconcile. This webtoon is going backwards compared to others, it started with a teenage son going to the path of knowing each other for fluff.

I can now understand how she became so cold to her son in the past.
She was mentally exhausted and started having depression. The only thing that helped was going out socialising like before the marriage and son in her life, but trying to escape reality cauggt up to her and ended up regretting ut.

Someone or something heard her desperate plead of regret.

Same. All these new characters I haven't seen or heard from before. Meanwhile I have no idea how the princess with black hair fits into any of this.

yeah it's still confusing but I decided to overlook these details eventually lol 😅
for example I get that the queen, Bethel Damonshire was killed by the king which results in the 2nd prince losing his succession to the throne. however it wasn't mentioned what happened to Kasaro Damonshire as someone who was going to marry Ercella before.
I'm also not sure who's the 2nd princess and from which house she is (and her father who followed her committing suicide)?
in conclusion I still don't quite understand what's Ercella connection with this and why she blamed herself... even if she did choose Kasaro while Harsen got married into the royal family instead there's no telling he won't do the same - e.g. conspiring to expose the queen's affair

So Ercella created a false happiness for herself to protect herself from all the trauma. Harsen didn't really help her condition with pushing the responsibilities of child rearing on her while neglecting her. But, it's hard to help someone when you don't know what the problem is and that there is an underlying issue. I'm not surprised that Ercella had a mental collapse.

God first time I’ve seen Post partum depression covered in any manga, I think the whole environment including her marriage just added to everything. So so so good thank you so much for translating!

It's just so sad that he was deep in political power from a young age to protect his family from inside&outside enemies and she was left alone, their marriage didn't get a bonding... like everything is a wasted potential... :(

After seeing that flashback i began to understand why she did all of those to vicente, even i would be so miserable if i were in her situation. I hooe shes doing alright now and moved on from the past😔 tho i still dont think that what they did to vicente were right, i just hope that they can start anew and live a happier life
