I expect flashbacks! There are many events that warrant a proper explanation, and I'm not just talking about the princess' change in attitude:

-Envoy for the Empire? Why was she chosen for that? Was it a punishment, as those men wondered, or a promotion?
-How did Yon and Hong Lyon meet? What made the princess take her under her wing?

Based of what I read from the raw, seems like the author only want to focus of the story about how the relationship between Dowun and the Princess (the Teacher and the pupil of the Darkness)

Nb: the story pace is really fast...
I love this kind of story though... I hope they will still get married though, even if it will become power struggle between them.

Now now, two things: first is, of course, a reminder that not all development is necessarily a good one; we're merely at the beginning of Princess Hong Lyon, and I'm thriving to see the roles that both Baek Han and Do-Gyeol will play in a sort of redemption from her. Second, is that not all storytelling needs to be linear, as many people have pointed out that we may get glimpses of what she learned all these years, or that is just not the focus of the story in the authors view lol

Also, thanks for mentioning the ways to support the author! Tho it really falls on my lack of attention to prior warning, I'll try my best to follow the original too! It's such a promising series!
