so glad the longass flashback is over.... baek han is really nice and i wish him the best, but as character he's quite generic which makes him fall short in comparison to lyon and dowun

as much as i like dowun i have no business defending him from haters but tbh he always made the clauses of the contract, and the fact that their relationship would never be emotional, blatantly clear, so i'm not sure what you guys expect from him. he's made clear as day what he wants and you could maybe cut him some slack instead of demanding of him to become the character he has repeated again and again that he won't be and doesn't want to be

in my personal opinion i do think there might be more to him where his humanity is concerned, but the fact that after nearly 60 chapters we still can't decide whether he has more feelings than he lets on or where he stands exactly is incredibly fascinating to me, i think his writing is fantastic!

I don't care how genius of a child Dowun was. Accusing a 13/14 year old of being able to completely manipulate Hong Lyon into planning into usurping the throne is a tad bit ridiculous. She is equally at fault and is going to have to accept that she chose to copy his personality and ambitions for herself. A bit like she's now copying Baek Han's personality now.

As for the brother, my guess is he doesn't know about Jayang. The granny is probably masterminding a rebellion and is collecting all the pawns that might hold a grudge against Hong Lyon. Come to think of it, is Jayang a direct descendant of hers? We learn her lineage in relation to the crown prince. Were they full-blooded brother and sister?

i think dowun has feelings for lyon; possibly possessiveness rather than romantic but the way he gets jealous and protective of lyon shows some emotional aspect of him that isn’t supposed to exist if he is a stoic and rational person.

and pretty sure lil bro of dowun is working tgt with the supposedly dead princess... he is probably still holding a grudge towards mostly dowun and partially lyon for his own actions all those years ago 🤷🏻‍♀️ but then again that supposedly dead princess is the one who got the king to listen to his blabbering as a child sooooo it will be quite ironic if he works with her 🤡

This is how much Dowun has manipulated Lyon. To the point where she can't even recognize which decision was hers.
Can you really say that Dowun is healthy for her?
In my opinion, their relationship is anything but healthy. Manipulation, possessiveness, toxicity, you name it.

We all know Lyon is kindhearted deep inside, but it's due to Dowun that she puts on a cold facade, that she's confused.

That's why I'm going with Baek Han, a healthier relationship. Lyon deserves better, and I just wanna see her happier and smiling like her kindhearted self when she was younger, don't you?
And when Lyon's with Baek Han, we really do see more of her true self, it's clear that she's happier when she's around him.

I agree with you.. Dowun is completely toxic
I understand that he did start everything based on his ambition and might have started to like her later on. But I believe that even at this moment if had to go through the pain of losing something very dear to her, he won't do anything to support her emotionally. But Baek Han is different..

Baek Han is giving her too much of a pass. Most people (excluding sociopaths and psychopaths) have some sort of conscience, but they still do terrible things. The fact that she keeps doing bad things knowing deep down that it's wrong is the issue. She numbed herself from the choices that she's made so that she could continue to work for her own self-benefit. Dowun showed her a way to get what she wants, and she chose to follow him. (I mean he didn't give her what she really wanted -- love, but no one owes her that.)

I'm not saying that she isn't a victim to circumstance, but, in that sense, both she and Dowun are the same. He is just more skilled at burying parts of him that aren't useful for obtaining power, and she's just realizing that power isn't all she wants. That's the difference.

And, of course, she doesn't recognize herself! She did it to herself on purpose because she hated who she was. There's nothing wrong with changing, but she changed herself to suit Dowun because she had no idea who she is, so it's no surprise that she doesn't like her present self. Right now, she's on track to do the same thing, chasing another man's image of her instead of reflecting on herself and what she wants.

I might sound like I'm complaining about her, but these flaws of hers are what makes her feel like a realistic character, but my hope for her is that she grows the hell up and becomes her own person. I love romance, but I hope this story isn't just a story about who she ends up with because it has so much more going for it than that.

Lyon's got a lot of nerve trying to turn some of her decisions on Dowun.

If she never wanted to have to deal with the myriad headaches and sleepless nights inherent with absolute power, she should've stayed in Damhwa Hall and passed away forgotten.

Did she imagine sitting at the top would involve a rosy scent and peace of mind?

Nothing I hate more than characters trying to have their cake and eat it.
