This manga has a lot of rep. Not only is it available in major bookstores but I've seen its first volume premier with huge marketing all over one [like posters and props outside]. People who aren't typically yuri or manga readers are aware of and have checked out its series [One of my straightest friends is all about this comic]. For a short post twitter manga without an anime, it's pretty mainstream, which is cool. It's really cathartic as a longtime GL fan to see a sapphic series get mainstream attention. So, I think it's understandable that many different people will be coming into this series with different expectations/standards/reception.
Personally, I think this is an adorably passionate entry series into Yuri comics with iconic art and a distinct vision through pop retro rock [yup its pop. All of these songs or bands are mainstream in the US but I can see how in JP its niche]. I think I would've loved this to get my feet wet when I was a questioning highschooler who could relate to crushing on a friend. As an adult it's a nice wind down-side dish to check in on. It doesn't offer the concentrated unapologetically forward sapphic relationship exploration I go for as a long time GL reader and as a person old enough to to know that when people really romantically click, it doesn't take them this long to express that connection [even when "useless" or young haha]. I think readers looking for more romance are gonna notice the priorities of the story and characters aren't demonstrating huge interest in getting together or being very romantic, regardless of if/when they will. So far this is platonic sapphic at its heart. People say its slow burn but the mcs feelings used to be moving fast in the direction of hyper romance when the ml was "a guy". That her feelings and expressions are less overtly romantic and more ambiguous once they settle into being friends as girls...is underwhelming from a yuri pov. It may be the point but sometimes it just feels like the least gay, gay story I've ever read. But it's sweetened by the fact regardless of that the characters have great chemistry and really are into each other. At least the supporting cast can feel there's some gay there. That's why I think it works as something relaxed or entry. If any of you guys who are frustrated wanna check out a more romantic slow burn with an mc who is initially extremely platonic for a large portion of the story, focuses of friendship development before romance, and pulls it off so convincing, I'd recommend the manhwa Love Doctor. This author[of the Green Yuri] also did an adult yuri oneshot that deserves views! Ofc to each their own. This manga is free and high quality so I think regardless of differing taste it deserves much appreciation in the GL community. Every art piece has its value! [sorry I left this long reply specifically on your post. I've been enjoying reading the comments here.]

I can’t believe it! After over 100 chapters it’s finally happening! And there’s an upcoming anime adaptation? The lesbians are winning
