This feels like the story is telling us that she shouldn't have to give up anything in this relationship when it's supposed to be give and take. I've grown to really dislike Paul.

I do want to note that the change he's making - omitting the restriction about women not being able to inherit noble titles - most likely does not mention anything about forbidding them from inheriting the noblest title of them all. Make of that what you will.

Pretty sure the idea with all that is that his first daughter will inherit the throne, if women become able to inherit title then it would be done on firstborn basis now.

I mean, realationships often give stuff up, but this is her lifes work and identity, it's a big ask.
Hard agree, the emperor would only be giving up like… idk nothing, and Paul would be dumping everything she’s worked hard to earn throughout her life, all because she got drunk and banged the emperor one time. Even then, its fucked up to see relationships as give and take, one with an uneven power dynamic would definitely be like that, but the emperor is making strides to ensure that he and Paul can unite under an even relationship, on terms both can feel comfortable with.

He‘s putting in the work, and that’s why he’ll get the woman he wants, not just because of his position, and being the “best man ever”, but because he sincerely wants her to be happy, and Paul doesn’t have to be constrained by the expectations placed on women like she’s always been doing, and her standing her ground on this so vehemently convinced the emperor, and led to a positive change in the world. I love this comic so god damn much it’s so well told and is honestly one of the healthiest versions of these kinds of relationships I’ve ever seen, and I’m glad it takes it’s time.

Considering how Paul isn't much of a parent to her firstborn, pls no. It'll come out a mess.

Uprooting the entire fucking continent's culture, norms and laws JUST to satisfy a single woman is an even bigger ask.

The emperor is doing so much. Moving heaven and earth to please one person. Paul.....you better do something. The balance is so skewed that it's sad. You have been pathetic

Kissing your feet. Finally someone in the comments who gets it.

Indeed indeed indeed.
It is such a nice change of pace and how everything gets handled, it feels so much realler and more grounded than most other fantasy stories like this. I remember long before the continent got conquered reading some spoilers about the concubines and getting so upset that paul wasn't the one that i stopped reading for a few months. And like. That was immature of me, wanting a classic romance and not waiting out to see how it got handled. And now it's my favorite part of this story, showcasing all of the injustices different kinds of women face in this world just for being born as women. It's got women power fantasy in it and not because Paul is a strong knight and so on, but because it acknowledges in so many different ways how shit it is to be a woman but also shows to us that these things CAN change if the people in power care for these issues.
And seeing that last panel in this chapter with Paul all worked up at how much Luscius did in this span of a year, that isn't just beneficial for her, but so many other women in her life like. Damn I love this story.

Now whats left is just to figure out why so many of the readers commenting want women to stay in the kitchen while the man gets to live happily not sacrificing anything.

Bro they can't accept a king that lowered his pride and move heaven and earth for his lover because they never and would never even think like that lol

Lucius never been serious with someone before Paul. He recognizes Paul never asked anything, and somehow she rejected a KING is a disgrace lmao bruv she never ASK lucius, what's her obligation to accept? If that's so, then it's not a relationship.

But it is not JUST? While it is unlikely that Luscious would've tackled this issue if it wasn't for his love for Paulina, he has witnessed women suffering because they are relegated to the role of baby-birthing machines in the Acrean society, and he deemed it an injustice that needed to be resolved. If he was motivated by just getting together with Paulina, It was well within his power to grant her an exception
And it's not the entire fucking continent's culture and norms, it's primarily Acrea with its laws that is ass-backwards, Paul's homeland did not have such stupid restrictions.
