This book demonstrates everything wrong with the 'churn out literary manga' genre. It completely manages to miss the fever dream atmosphere of the story by making everything clear and concrete. I'm not even talking about the famous insect bit, which is completely diminished here, but even the earlier bits about how he's trying to make a living as a salesman had an unreal quality, and Mr. Samsa (the father) completely loses the looming evil presence he has. He's the real monster of the story and should be even scarier than insect Gregor.

I'm sure Junji Ito could do it, or Tanabe Gou, but this is pure soulless assembly line. ( Though thanks to @NibbPower for the upload so we could at least check it out ).

@sasura I agree with you 100 percent. Giving gregor a girlfriend ignores how he's supposed to be a loser with no friends and how he's wasted his life supporting his lazy family. The portrait of the woman above his bed is supposed to be his waifu even, to demonstrate how lonely he is.

I assure, if you have any knowledge of the shit Kafka writes, that shit will seem like nothing.

Yeah man, been a long time since I've read Metamorphosis but this manga doesn't even scratches the agony that is reading Kafka.

I can understand certain changes getting made when adapting to a different medium, and perhaps giving a bit of your own spin, but what they did here just undercuts a lot of the story for me.
