I teared up a little at the end. Do cochlear implants not work everyone? Sorry if that's a dumb thing to ask.
No exactly, They try to explain it a little further back (I don't remember which chapter exactly), what the implant does for Kanon is make the noises louder, but it doesn't make them clear or filter out the surrounding noise like you would with your own ears. So in very loud or crowded environments it's like having a perpetual static surrounding the sound... Kinda like those auditive CAPTCHA, or an audio on a windy day and/or like having water in your ears, if that makes sense.
So she probably can heart parts and pieces but not everything and definitely not enough to actually catch the way Saki was playing.

Of course, It depends a lot on the type of deafness every person have, how effective or ineffective the implants will be so this isn't necessary the case for everyone.

Can't wait for Kanon to stumble into Saki's hair stylist making out with a woman, which then turns into a parable about being gay in order for her to recognize her own feelings
I was thinking that Akira-San would probably be the one who will help Kanon in a chance encounter! Then she'll totally be their biggest shipper. Great minds think alike!

Thanks for the translation, thesoundofspace and team! You've been doing your best and we appreciate you!

She has hearing aids not the implants.

I really wanted Saki to get more advice from the hairdresser, but we kinda breezed right past it. Maybe we'll flashback to a conversation later.

I wonder if Saki is either going to come out to Kanon or be outed before they make anymore progress. And that moment when she ran away after Kanon joked about being in love with her, is a perfect set up for something. Like, rather than admit that she ran away because it was an accidental bullseye, she'll say she ran away because she thought Kanon had figured out she was gay and was teasing her about it or something. Some classic "almost the truth but not quite" shit.
