All it takes is something to trigger it. Like someone who has yandere potential but never falls in love won't become a yandere. Or maybe they are in a committed relationship that has mutual trust and there is nothing that makes them feel threatened. At least not enough to drive them over the edge.
I wonder if there is a word for a potential yandere.
